Joints created with Miller Dowels combine the advantages of natural wood joinery with the ease of nails or screws. The dowels and drills are sold as a kit.
JD has three kits available to suit your project. The Miller Dowel Mini X kit is best for joining half inch (1/2) stock, thinner woods such as plywood or laminates. The Mini-X joinery kit comes with 100 Birch dowels, plus a matching Miller TruFit high speed steel drill bit. Use the Mini X dowel joinery kit as a substitute for brads, blind dowels, biscuits, or other joints.
The Miller 1X Joinery Kit is to be used with wood up to 1-1/8 inches thick. Birch wood is suitable for most interior projects. This kit is great for thicker woods, both natural solids and laminates. Kit includes 50 Birch dowels and a matching TruFit HSS drill bit.
The Miller 2X Joinery Kit can be used to join wood up to 1-5/8 inches thick. Again, Birch wood dowels are suitable for most interior projects. This kit is appropriate for joining thicker wood, adding strength, in place of traditional mortise and tenon joinery, biscuits, or blind dowels. Kit includes 50 Birch dowels and a matching TruFit HSS drill bit.
