Sikaflex 227 Fast Curing Adhesive Sealant has great weather and road salt resistance, absorbs the constant shock encountered in vehicle use and is sandable and paintable.
Applications:
Exposed and concealed lap seams, rivet seams, joints of aluminum, steel, coated metals and wood, expansion and control joints.
Substrates:
Aluminum, FRP, steel, wood, SMC, RIM, pre-painted metals, ZINCALUME, Zincgrip and aluminized steel - many without primers. Does not attack metal coatings.

2012-12-11Kevin V: According to SIKAFLEX you do not want to apply this in temperatures less that 40 degrees Fahrenheit. It might not cure completely.

2012-10-15ERICA CARDER: Make sure the product is fairly warm so it will come out of the tube easier. It takes a day to dry and a day to cure, so be sure to keep the product clean for the first 48 hours after using it. Spreading it with a paint trowel seems to work well, and use a damp rag for cleaning the excess.
2012-10-15MICHAEL TOBOLSKI: Have used on boat teak with no problem. Use masking tape for the edges ) for clean lines, make sure wood is dry and apply. Remove masking tape a few minutes after applying Silkaflex (will come up easier than if you wait).

2012-10-16SUE PRICE: I'm sorry I don't know if this will be of much help, we used the product to seam together rubber flooring. I did find that denatured alcohol was helpful in both the installation and the cleanup. Use it sparingly..you can always add more!

2012-09-06LINDA LORGUS: Yes, it works very well on concrete. I used it to fill in a crack between a concrete front landing and stucco house. It filled in smoothly and kept water from seeping in. It still looks good 4-5 years later.

2012-05-02ERIC PARADIS: I use this on aluminum to aluminum and have used it on overhead plastic vent to aluminum with excellent results.
2012-05-02MARTIN HENRICKS: Bob, Sikaflex 227 may possibly work successfully long term for your application - but a far better choice would be either Sikaflex 715, or Sikaflex 505UV. Both of these other products are designed for use in exposed applications, and have superior adhesion to bare aluminum. Check them out. If the aluminum is painted - then I would expect that the 227 and the other 2 would be near equally capable of holding adhesion to the painted aluminum; and I'd expect all to adhere well to gelcoat surface of Fiberglass (but only the other 2, to a raw Fiberglass surface (no gelcoat). But the 715 or 505UV is the better choice regardless, for an exposed application.
