2012-05-22GARY FLECKENSTEIN: My motor has oil injection, and it was ok for that.
I never looked at the fule injection stuff. If that is the same detail and quality as the oil injection and carburation sections - then you should be good.

2011-11-03GARY FLECKENSTEIN: I would be more worried about water trapped in the water jacket on the power head, and possibly water in the lower unit (if you had a leaky seal) freezing with the motor in a tilted full up position.
The motor in the down position would probably drain all areas better. Still, there may be places in the cooling system that water pockets, or in areas on top of the lower unit that don't go directly to a leg drain.

All outboards hold water in the tilted up posistion. If you are in a location that freezes do you haul the pontoon for the winter? If so you can lower the motor after haul out. The water will than drain out of the lower unit.

2011-11-18FRED BUCKLEY: I have a son who recently purchased a 1992 Mercury Mariner motor. He asked me if I knew where he could get a repair/maintenance manual. I had recently purchased ( through a friend) some material from Jamestown. When I Googled Mercury manuals up came Jamestown. This is a really good outfit. I strongly suggest you try them!

Tries to cover too much material(2.5-250hp) and does none well. Hard to find anything I need, pictures are black and white, small and fuzzy- little to no help. Focus is Optimax, but advertised as Mercury in general. I have 25/30 hp Mercurys, and it is virtually useless for them.

I'm retired and love to fish.
