Questions & Answers about Yamaha Outboard Engine Repair Manuals:
2012-02-03DAVE PALADINO asked: does the motor have to run to flush the salt water from the engine or is just running water through the hook up sufficient?

2012-02-03JEFF CARPENTER: In my experience with flushing out salt water from outboards you just run the water through the flush input while the motor is off. The water cooling channels really don't have anything to do with whether the motor is running or not. This was I do in Florida after pulling the boat due to salt water.
