System Three Surf Board Resin SB-112 epoxy is a clear, almost water-white, high-modulus epoxy resin system, specially formulated for use in building surf and sail boards over polystyrene cores. Unlike many epoxy resin systems it cures to a glossy blush free surface. It is unique in that polyester resins and gel coats may be bonded directly to it without using tie coats.

2013-02-23ROB PRITCHETT asked: I am looking for an epoxy to mix with graphite powder and colodial silica to help protect the bottow of a kevlar kayak finished in gel coat, and a kevlar canoe, so there will be some flexing in the hulls, with this material crack under a small amount of deflection?

2013-02-26WAYNE HESS: Rob, the people at system three are very helpfull .You should shoot them an email. A surf board shop could help with the flexing question.
2013-03-05DON WILSON: I did not use it for boat repair But in sheets by itself it was fairly brittle
I use this product on hollow wooden surfboards. I don't use anything else because this is the best. I really like the UV protection since it doesn't require a coat of varnish.

Of course System Three SB-112 is a great product and in my case it is the only epoxy resin that is compatible with polyester resin when polyester is to be used over an epoxy repaired area. The real story here though is Jamestown Dist.I have been a Jamestown customer for decades and I have never been disappointed with any product I purchased from them.
