Questions & Answers about WEST System 101 Repair Kits:
2012-10-18JEANNIE KENNY asked: Is this the kit that is used to repair fine china?
+Expand Answers
2012-10-18Nathan Fournier: West System's G/Flex "WSY-650-8" will do an excellent job of repairing ceramics along with a lot of other substrates, thank you.
2012-09-10HARRY SWEET asked: WSY-1016 Kit. How much resin and fiberglass are in this kit and is it suitable
for surfboard repair?
Thank you, Harry

2012-09-10ROBIN MCMEEKING: Check the information at the West System web site. Scroll to the bottom kit. Each of the packets of resin and hardener has about one ounce. It should be fine for a surfboard. I used it on a fiberglass canoe. Larger kits are available.
2012-06-26A shopper asked: Do you have refill packs for west epoxy kit"?
+Expand Answers
2012-06-26STUART SCACE: Sorry I don't . The kit was just the right size for my repair.
2012-06-26HENRY LEMON: My kit came with 3 or 4 packets of epoxy and I was able to use the kit on several different small projects. Not sure if you can order the packs separately, but after shopping around I felt this kit was the best deal to avoid wasting any of the product. West systems epoxy seems to be expensive wherever you find it.
2012-01-31A shopper asked: How many sq.ft. will the kit cover?
+Expand Answers
2012-01-31RICHARD HALMY: Hi...
I used the smallest patch kit...for bonding a small hole in a dinghy...
The kit was more than adequate, but certainly not enough to cover
anything more than a few square inches....for a larger repair, fiberglass
mat and a larger portion of West 101 compound would be required.......Hope this helps...
Regards,
RH
2012-02-01STEVEN J. ROTH: SORRY NOT SURE ON SQUARE FEET, MIGHT SAY ON THE PACKAGE BUT I FOUND THE KIT IS NICE HAVING MOST OF WHAT YOU NEED BUT IT IS ONLY FOR A SMALL AREA AND IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE SMALL AREA TO REPAIR I THINK YOU ARE BETTER OFF BUYING THE MATERIALS IN LARGER INDIVIDUAL PACKAGES. COMES OUT CHEAPER I BELIEVE IN THE LONG RUN. I PURCHASAED THE KIT TO LEARN FIRST BEFORE I DID THE BIGGER INVESTMENT, WANTED TO MAKE SURE I KNEW WHAT TO DO AND COULD DO IT. SO IF IT IS YOUR FIRST TIME MIGHT BE WORTHWHILE ALSO FOR YOU
2012-02-01silvio barzi: Each blister has less than an ounce of epoxy, so the actual coverage is less than a square foot. This kit is very practical if you have to make very small repairs and only once in a while not to justify larger packagings.
2012-02-02JIMMY JESSUP: I wish I could help but have only done several small jobs with it, fill in holes, do corners. As it says on the package small repairs if it is put on thin mayby 2 or 3 sq ft. but not that much mat. with it. Jim
2012-01-17ARADHANA SINGH asked: What are the exact contents of WSY-101T refill pack? They used to be six pre-mixed packages, and I want to make sure that still is true
+Expand Answers
2012-01-19JOSEPH FERRARA: i didn't buy a re-fill kit. I bought the repair kit.
2012-01-19Aradhana Singh: The answer to my question is:
The WSY-101T contains six pre-measured packets of 105 resin and 205 hardener.
2011-12-07A shopper asked: Is the WSY-1016 (large) kit enough to cover a 2" by 6" rectangular section of my shower floor? Also, the shower floor is a light brown color - how can I match the color?
+Expand Answers
2011-12-07GRACE DAVIES: Yes, the size would be enough. Sorry I don't know about how to match the color on a shower floor. I used my in an ornamental fountain and painted it, but I don't think paint would be strong enough for a shower.
2011-12-07HANSON GRANT: Yes, you'll have plenty of material to cover a 2" X 6" square on your floor. Matching the color may be difficult - the fillers available (to my knowledge) yield a reddish brown result or white (slightly gray). Other colorants may be available. Consider the possibility of doing the entire floor. This eliminates seams and gives one color results.
2011-11-02JERRY RAMM asked: Is this product white or offwhite. Can it be used for fiberglass tub repair?
+Expand Answers
2011-11-02LEE STANTON: Once the two portions are mixed, the resin is light amber, but clear. There is no filler with this product.
2011-11-02JAMIE SIMS: It is white. It could be used to fix a fiberglass tub as long a the place your putting doesn't flex and cause the epoxy to crack. The best way to do it would be to apply from the backside of the surface and it would be less noticeable.
2011-10-28CHARLES B asked: I have to repair a couple of dips in my kitchen floor where the sub floor got wet and dipped down between the floor joists. Probably down about 3/8 ", and about 4 feet long. Floor is strong but when it dried out it stays down a little. What I want to do is fill in the dip on top of the linoleum and put down some vinyl floor tiles so I need something that has some good tinsel strength and able to bond to the existing linoleum. Can you help? Thanks, Charles

2011-10-28CHARLES ANDREWS: I question if the repair pack has sufficient/volume to do the job. I would think regular epoxy thicken would work. Need to be concerned that the material does not flow out of the depression. Utilize a straight edge from one side to other to verify the material has filled the void and not still left a depression.
2011-10-28Charles B: How much does the repair kit weigh? And does it have a base and hardener in cans? I am familiar with using quartz and an epoxy mixture where I mix the hardener, base, and quartz together with a mixing drill and install. Unfortunately I don't have any left and that is why I'm contacting you.
2011-10-28CHARLES ANDREWS: Charles - with the WEST system they do sell or market by weight instead they use volume. Also I am not familiar with the repair kit as I use their resin and hardner with an additive to thicken it. It is mixed in a container, plastic, by hand using a stick. The resin and hardner come in metal cans and are dispensed through the use of their proprietary pumps, therefore you can mix as much or as little as you desire. Remember there is a pot life of about 20 minutes which is influenced by temperature.
2011-10-28BRIAN BOSCHEN: I am sure this could work for you, but with our without it, you will want to put backer board down over the entire floor before you put down your tile. Home improvement stores also carry a self leveling compound which would probably be a better choice for this task.
2011-10-28SEAN LINTOW SR: As a contractor, I have seen my fair share of people trying this & would strongly discourage you from trying it. While you may succeed trying the epoxy route (pretty expensive with the amount of space you are talking about) you would be better pulling up the linolium & fixing any hidden issues.
