Aqua Signal Series 23 LED Portable Navigation Lights are for use on boats under 23 feet traveling less than 7 knots. Lights are available with various mounting options for stern and bow.* Mounting options include C-Clamp or Suction Cup, Inflatable, or U-Bracket (for stern light with 24" pole only).
LED lamps consume much less energy than a standard incandescent bulb, resulting in a battery life of up to 10 times longer (proposed 100,000 hours of service life). LED navigation lights maximize visibility on the water and are better suited for the harsh marine environment than standard lights.
Aqua Signal Series 23 Lights feature black housing and are fully buoyant. The lights are powered by 4 AA batteries (not included).
*All-round white stern lights and bi-color bow lights.

2013-01-25JOE THORNTON: since I've not seen many canoes with a horizontal flat surface to mount a suction cup on, I would say the c-clamp (bow), u-bracket (stern), would be the best approach to take.

2013-02-18PAUL LEWIS: I think I'd go with the suction cup base if the canoe has a flat spot on each end by the lift handle. Otherwise the clamp on base.

2012-07-16MARC PFEIFFER: We use these on rowing shells. The version we bought came with suction cups, which we push down onto the front and rear deck of the shell. This worked well for us.

Lights are absolutely essential for safety. In fact we donate these lights to high school crews to make sure they are well lit in the pre-dawn darkness. 2012-07-16Fred Dugan: Well I just wrote you a kind of long reply and added my e-mail address and it wouldn't let it go threw so it got wiped out.I just want to say thank you for your advice.I bought the jonny boat for my son's birthday coming up the 31st of this month he'll be 16.I was lucky to find this boat for the price for I'm disabled and it's hard.I paid 250.00 for it whats nice about it the seats slide forward and back and swivel 360.The guy I bought it off of let me make monthly payments and I just got it all paid for July 1st.Last weekend at a yard sale I found a set of ore's nice one's for 5 buck's for both of them plus a trolling motor for 10 bucks can't beat that and the trolling motor works great..Now I need to save up for life jacket's and them light's.I don't mean to sound cheap but you said you donate light's to high school kids,I would be willing to pay the shipping even if the light need to be screwed on or glued or what ever way they need mounted.I just would like to have it ready for the 31st.I'm not asking for any hand outs or people to feel sorry for me but being on SSDI stink's but it help's.I've worked 17 year's in Michigan for Dupont paint Company and had a 600 pound barrow of paint fall of a fork lift going by me and messed me up good.I have so many plate's and pin's in my body it's unreal,give anything to be normal and back to work.Marc sorry I can get rambling on when I get on the computer so forgive me for the long letter.I enjoy your advice and from what you have said it sounds like you been boating awhile.I'm a singal parent for the last 16 years and this is gonna make my son so happy to finally have a jon boat.Happy boating my friend,Fred

There are different choices for the mount, you would order the correct mount for your application. Mine are actually glued to the RIB. The mount is two-piece, so by pulling a pin you can remove the light for storage or clearance, leaving only a small part of the mount attached to the boat. I don't know if they have a hard mount that can be screwed into place. Looks like the options are Suction cup, glue-on, and clamp-on.

2012-07-16JAMES SCHNEIDER: The light I purchased normally would be glued to an inflatable. I used mine on the bow of a small sailboat and simply screwed it to the deck and used silicone caulk underneath. I can attach it when I need it. This seems to work pretty well for my needs.

2011-08-22RANDY KORTE: It only goes together one way. Must make sure the assembly lines up on the inside so it fits correctly. There is a channel that one piece fits into as it is screwed together.

Despite using the channel, neither of the two I bought will stay lit for more than a minute. It sounds like maybe I just ended up with 2 faulty ones.

2011-08-22Patrick Schoonveld: I thought it odd as well. In another review, someone noted the batteries as "easy to replace." So, I feel like I might have just gotten a couple bad units.
I called Aqua Signal and they're sending over 2 replacements and will look at mine to see what went wrong. They were very easy to contact, so I'm hoping to sort it out quickly. Regardless, kind of annoying for what are essentially $50 flashlights.
2011-08-22RANDY KORTE: That is weird because I just left my unit on for 20 minutes and works good. The reason I bought the new LED unit is the Energizer batteries in the old unit leaked and corroded the inside. Now I use Duracell batteries in everything. Randy
2011-08-26ROB GALBRAITH: There are two slots in the light body that the bulb/lens assembly must slide into. One slot in the body has a raised guide running down the middle. Align the (very small) notch in the back/bottom of the lens assembly with the raised guide in the body. This was not very obvious, but it aligns the lens assembly with the batteries. My lights have worked perfectly.

2011-10-15SERAFIMA SHMULENSON: There is a special groove the the light bulb housing has to sit in when you put it all together. In other words the light bulb housing only goes in one direction. If that does not help then you probably have a defective light and I'm sure that the great people @ James town will exchange it for you. Hope this helps.

As supplied, this product cannot be securely installed on an Avon 310 (and presumably any other Hypalon type dinghy). I can find nothing which sticks to the PVC mount. It might work on a PVC inflatable, but there's no way to know. Aqua-Signal offers no help or recommendations. I have been an Aqua-Signal user for 35+ years, but they are now on my black list.

It looks brand new, but the on/off switch does not work. The batteries and bulb are new and work, but can't turn it on. Useless. Wasted money. Very sad. No recourse.

They are readily attached and removed for storage. Extremly well built for the HARSH environment of water Fresh and SALT. Installing battery's is a snap and the Hard Rugged case will handle any ACCIDENTAL drops. $ Money well spent..

Very well made product. The lights are bright and easy to install. My only complaint is that the wing nuts provided to attach the stern light pole were not the right threads for the nuts provided. A minor issue but never the less a little annoying.
