This actuator assembly is the hydraulic cylinder component that controls the up-and-down movement of Bennett trim tabs. This piston-like unit pushes and retracts the trim plane (or tab) into various positions. Bennett's actuators are constructed from non-corrosive plastic resin bodies, and utilize nylon upper hinges. They are specifically designed to allow the hydraulic fluid to flow internally through the upper hinge, eliminating the need for hoses that can fail prematurely over time. Compatible with virtually all Bennett trim tabs.

2011-09-08A shopper asked: I have a 1979 28' FibreForm with twin Chevy 305's VolvoPenta outdrives and I'm not sure what brand trim tabs came with the boat, but I'm guessing they are Bennett.
My questions are:
1) Does it use automatic transmission fluid?
2) What is the compressed length of the unit?
3) Can it use the old square mounts, assuming my old ones are Bennett?

Bennett never had square mounts on the actuators, I believe you may have Boat Leveler brand Trim Tabs.
The closed length of the standard actuator (part A1101A) is 13-3/4" and the short actuator (part A1200S) is 11-3/4".
Both Bennett and Boat Leveler use Automatic Transmission fluid.
