Use Evercoat Premimum Gel-Kote to repair and conceal gouges, chips, scrapes and deep scratches in fiberglass gel coat finishes. Gel-Kote has a non-run, non-sag formula for rigid, flexible polyester resins to produce resiliency and toughness. Add gelcoat/polyester resin colorant to tint to desired color.
When adding colorant tint to white, it will produce pastels, when added to natural it will produce bold, bright colors. After Gel-Kote hardens, follow with fiberglass rubbing compound and boat wax for a like-new finish. To obtain a fully cured finish, use Evercoat (or similar brand) Mold Release to obtain a fully-cured surface. This product will remain tacky until a Mold Release product is applied.

Questions & Answers about Evercoat Premium Gel-Kote:
2013-03-14A shopper asked: I have a small twin hulled Livingston boat , will this product fix the scratches and chips in the hull ?

2013-03-27BOBBY MENDENHALL: Don't know yet, Waiting for some warmer weather to apply.
2013-05-09ERIC LIEBERS: what you want to do is what this Gel coat is made for. Waxed Gel Coat could also be used but cure time is triple than what non-waxed GC. will take. Don't forget the PVA for curing. Hope this helps.
2012-05-21ANTHONY LUNDBERG asked: Does the hardener come with it?

2012-05-21JAMES HENRY: Yes, the hardener is included.
2012-10-08Mike Watson: yes, It says the product can be sprayed so I assumed that I could use it to cover the upper portion.
2012-02-06AL P asked: I"m not sure not quite how to go about this so I will explain. Then you tel me what to buy? I have a 14foot v-hull fiberglass fishing boat, transom 15inches. total sides not over 2feet high, ecept for front 3 feet high. I'm going to finish sanding the bottom today. I want to paint it and then put resin on it to make it last. Should I put polyester resin will it be okay. My question is how long will it last with polyester compared to epoxy? How many years different?. but living on a budget too. So as well but isn't the gel coat supposed to make a boat last longer. do you put the gel coat on last. I lknow as well you can mix gel coat with resin is that correct or not? I know you can mix tint with the gel coat too. What would be the easiest and quickest but cheapest way to do this. REmember this is just a fishing boat. I do appreciate your help in this matter

2012-02-06MICHAEL SCHILLIZZI: You don't want to paint it, then put on resin. When the paint chips and wears of, so will the resin. You do not need to put resin on the whole bottom. First, use epoxy resin and not polyester. Epoxy is more flexable and forgiving with the pounding of the bottom. Just scuff up the areas and remove all loose gel coat, You can use oil colore from an art srore to tint the color of the gel. Only use in small amounts. When putting on the gel, use a plastic squeegee and put it on neat. Some gel coats are meant to put on and remain tacky. They need the lack of air to cure. So after you are finished, put on some clear thin plastic, such as saran wrap, squeegee it to get out air bubbles and tape it down on the edges. Let sit for at least 24 hours. See what can reads for cure time. When that is cured, take off plastic, sand smooth, prime and paint with fiberglass paint and primer
2011-11-20DARYL HANSEN asked: when applying gel coat I heard that you must cover with plastic wrap. is this true?
+Expand Answers
2011-11-21MICHAEL SCHILLIZZI: From what I understand. Gelcoat does not contain wax. Wax is engineerd into other epoxies so it will float to the top and form a seal to let the epoxy cure. It needs this barrier to seal it off from the air. Epoxy cures in the absense of air. So without the extistance of wax in the product, It is best to cover with some sort of thin clear food type plastic and tape around it and get all the air out and it will cure better.
