Questions & Answers about Jabsco Electric Marine Toilets:
2013-04-01EJAY SCHMITT asked: is this a totally dry system?
+Expand Answers
2013-04-05JOHN MILLER: The only Marine toilet I have experiance off is a wet, masuratining type.
Requires sea water or fresh water to flush.
2013-04-05IAN OCONNELL: No. It works using sea water
2013-04-05CATKHY KING: This one pumps water from the lake.
2013-04-05DALE DIEMEL: No, you have to plumb it to a water tank.
2013-04-05THOMAS MAURER: Needs water to flush.
2013-04-05KENNETH BOYER: Yes, dry & simple
2013-04-05BRIAN LECLAIR: Not sure what you mean by this question. This unit requires a water supply to function. This supply could be from a holding tank or in my case, direct from the lake. Waste is of course flushed by water into an onboard holding tank.
2013-04-05DAVID COLLINS: if you install the outlet hose so that its the height you want the water in the bowl, no. however, if the hose is lower than the bowl it will be dry... so you pick. i will caution that you should keep some water in the bowl to prevent tank gases from backing up into the boat.
2013-04-05GARY GISH: There is always supply water remaining in the bowl after a flush cycle. There is no provision for a dry bowl withe this system.
2013-04-08GERALD FINN: No, it's a normal water flush system.
2013-03-08A shopper asked: What is the wight of this product?
+Expand Answers
2013-03-12Kevin V: About 35lbs.
2013-01-22JIM DAVEY asked: how much water does it take to cycle through one flush??
+Expand Answers
2013-01-22GARY GISH: The user controls the amount of water used in each flush by the amount of time the flush button is pressed. Just press the button until the bowl is cleared. Sometimes only a small amount of water is required, maybe a half gallon, other times more will be required.
2013-01-22RICHARD BUYNISKI: About two cups of water.
2013-01-22THOMAS MAURER: Very little to a bowl full. Depends on the amount to flush.
2013-01-23JAMES FINNEGAN: it depends how long you hold the switch on i figure i usually run about 1 gallon through it
2013-01-23BRIAN LECLAIR: It varies since you control the length of the cycle by holding the flush button until the waste is gone. This has proven to be a great choice for our live aboard. Easily installed too.
2013-01-23R E PEARSON: It depends. The toilet is push button operated and the user controls the flush cycle. It takes a longer flush to dispose of solid waste, but never more than a bowlful, probably about a gallon. It takes very little to dispose of non-solid waste, just a small push of the botton. We have a 30 gallon black water tank and it is sufficient for a three (3) day weekend for two with this toilet.
2013-01-24GREGORY WALKER: I turn the breaker off so the women don't fill the holding tank----tell them to use glass of water from sink
2012-12-12A shopper asked: do i need a pressure pump to supply water pressure to the head or can it be gravity fed from a fresh water holding tank?
+Expand Answers
2012-12-12Kevin V: As long as you prime the toilet with either the water from a holding tank, or raw water from the body water that you are boating in you will not need a pressure pump.
2012-09-07MICHAEL LEWIS asked: In all lof the photos of the toilet I do not see the 1.5 inch discharge port. Is it under the motor housingf? I am replacing a converted Jabsco toilet with the newer shown.
I need yo ur help.
Thanks

2012-09-12MAREK PRZETAKIEWICZ: The discharge port is the one pointing at you that you see in the picture. The intake and raw water port to the toilet are under the plastic, dress-up cover. I believe it's a 1" port which comes with a tubing adapter to make it 1-1/4"
2012-09-13OTIS BROCK JR: No The, the inlet is on one side and the out let is on the other side.
This is a great toilet.
Otis
2012-09-14BOB METTE: The discharge is 1", I connected mine to the Jabsco "Y" valve. The valve comes with an adapter for 1".
2012-10-12JAMES FINNEGAN: it comes with an adaptor an inline coupling
2012-04-10DAVID SIMCOX asked: Has anyone converted a manual to electric? What type of difficulities did you experience?

2012-04-10JESSE WATTS: Simply remove old toliet, mount new with instructions.I had a marina do the wiring. My time was 4 hours.

2012-04-19DAVID COLLINS: Dave, I purchased a replacement motor for a failed motor and didn't perform the conversion. The motor replacement was simple.

2012-02-10BRUCE H asked: is there a template I can download to see if the existing bowl - which is 1985 vintage will fit on the macerating base assembly?

2012-02-15GREGORY WALKER: picture is exact. same modle in my 02 silverton
2011-12-09DICK RILEY asked: How does this toilet mount to the deck?
+Expand Answers
2011-12-09CHARLES FLETCHER: I have purchased two units this year. the units are low profile so you might want to build some type platform and then fasten the unit with three !/4 x 1.5inch lag screws. this worked fine for me
2011-12-09JESSE WATTS: She mounts very easly, with three screws. Predrill holes first.
My deck has plywood under fiberglass.
2011-12-09R E PEARSON: I created a "mount" out of a 2 x 8 piece of mahoganny. To make it look pretty I also routered the edges (also makes the corners less sharp - saves toes stumping into a sharp edge of the mount in the dark). I cut the 2 x 8 an inch or so larger than the toilet base (including the pump and pump housing), basically a long rectangle. I put 5200 on the bottom side of the 2 x 8 and secured the 2 x 8 with six (6) number 10 stainless 2 1/2 wood screws to the deck. I then painted (or you can stain) the 2 x 8. Then I mounted the toilet atop my mahoganny mount with 2 inch pan head stainless screws (also number 10, I think) with stainless washers. It raised the toilet about 1 1/2 inches but that was not a problem and, so far, the toilet does not rock and roll. I cannot recommend this if you ever want to pull up or remove the wooden "mount" because the 5200 holds really, really well to my fiberglass floor in the head.
2011-12-09THOMAS MAURER: Mine hangs over a step in the floor about 1" so there's a starboard plate screwed into the floor and the front hole has a bolt and the back two holes have lags that go thru the plate.
2011-12-09BOB METTE: Dick;
The base has three mounting holes. Mine screwed to the fiberglass with 1/4 lag screws.
Bob
2011-11-01DALE HOBGOOD asked: Can this toilet be flushed dry like the manual version? To save water.
+Expand Answers
2011-11-02TIM JANCSICS: no it will burn out the rubber inpellar
2011-11-02JOSEPH DOBRENSKI: Once the electric toilet flushes and you stop pressing the on-off switch, a small amount of water remains in the bowl - just like a conventional house toilet.
2011-11-14GREGORY WALKER: liquids will drain into holding tank by gravity / solid s can be pulverized c dry metal blades and other liquids will take them down to tank using notn water
2011-11-18GUY GILBERT: Not recommended.
You could install a convenient shut off valve in your supply but you would be running the intake impeller dry- not good!
A short flush uses virtually no water as the intake pump tends to prime a bit slower than the mascerator discharge side.
I do not know what water you are trying to save though, we flush with sea water intake.
2011-09-19A shopper asked: installed May 2011 and now no juice?
+Expand Answers
2011-09-19C.J. MCLAGGAN: I have no trouble with mine . But you can use a tester at the motor ,if no power follow your leads back until you find some!
2011-09-19JESSE WATTS: Don't understand the question { juice} Have not had any problems
jcw
2011-10-21CHARLES FLETCHER: I would like to answer but there is not enough information to define the problem.
Chuck Fletcher
2011-11-05OTIS BROCK JR: Something foreign might have fallen in the bowl and got stuck in the impeller, causing the motor to draw too much current and trip the circuit breaker. Take off the motor and clean out the debri., and reset the circuit breaker. Good Luck.

Comments about ITT Jabsco Jabsco Electric Marine Toilets:
This unit was almost a direct replacement for the old one. I had to move this one about 1/2 inch forward of the old location. The MFG finally got smart and moved the rear mounting holes (the two that used to be under the pump and were virtually inaccessible) to a single mounting hole in the front where it is accessible.
