Xantrex Prosine True Sinewave Inverters are designed for electrical applications that already have a multi-stage battery charger. These inverters are designed for commercial and recreational use and use crystal controlled, true sine wave quality output. The result is a quality power source that is identical to the alternating current (AC) feeds from utility companies, which improves AC equipment performance and longevity.
Prosine series inverters are capable of handling large and small AC loads. Each inverter comes with a removable LCD display can be mounted remotely for control and monitoring.
Unique direct current (DC) terminals can be connected on a 180 degree scale making these inverters perfect for mounting in a difficult locations on an RV or boat, and are available in 12V and 24V models.

I started out to find an inverter that would handle finicky NiMH battery chargers (perfect sine wave design). Apparently, manufacturers such as Makita, discourage inverters because the clipped sine wave of cheap units gives the charger's electronics fits.( not sure why; I'm a carpenter and ex jet pilot, but electronics are not my area of expertise) On the theory that bigger is better, I went with the 1800 model to be able to run power tools also. We installed the unit under the driver's seat of my Tundra and I have an outlet strip plugged into it. The initial draw of the skilsaw and table saw are at the limit of the maximum surge capabilities and require the engine to be running and it does trip out sometimes, but a quick reset and we're good to go.Consider the remote switch so as not to forget to turn it off when you park for the night; it will drain the battery. (learned the hard way) DON'T CHEAP OUT ON THE BATTERY CABLES!
