Questions & Answers about Windline Sport/Diver Boarding Ladder:
2013-05-05YAMAHA G3 PRO175 asked: I'm seeing contradictory info on this ladder. Some places claim it floats while others say it sinks like a rock if you lose your grip on it. Which is correct?
+Expand Answers
2013-06-06MELVIN ROSE: I keep a line on it...it is a rock. It is also a fine, deep heavy duty ladder.
2013-06-06DONALD HULL: The ladder is hollow so it will float..... Until its in the water for an extended amount of time and fills up with water. Then it would sink. It's not sealed an will slowly take in water. If your concern is dropping it and it sinking to the bottom I would buy a can of spray foam and fill it by removing the caps on the ends of the ladder. This is only my personal suggestion.
2013-06-06CHARLES ALLEN: It does not float.
2013-06-07DEAN RUSCOE: This ladder is pretty heavy duty. Will definitely sink. This is a great dive ladder. You just have to remember to slide it out of it's bracket and put it in the boat before you get under way or it could hit the bottom in shallow water.
2013-06-07EDWARD BERGMAN, JR: As long as the end caps are still intact, it will float.
2013-06-08DARREN LOUNSBURY: It floats but also bends very easily if you happen to forget its attached to boat and go underway! It's easy to forget because you can't see it from helm.
2012-12-20JIM CHRIST asked: I need width dimensions as I want to know if I will be able to store this ladder under my seat on my 2011 16' Hewes Redfisher. It would also be nice to see the mounting instructions to further answer the question of if the ladder will fit and work on my transom which has limited space?
+Expand Answers
2012-12-20DONALD HULL: To store this ladder you will need a space at least 47"x15". To mount it you need to buy 4 stainless steel bolts with nuts an washers. Length depending on thickness of what your mounting the mount to.
2012-12-20DONALD HULL: And the mount is small. Approx. 3"x5". That's an estimate. My boats in storage.
2012-07-14JEFF LAST NAME asked: Does this attach easily to a teak swim platform?
+Expand Answers
2012-07-16JOSEPH VLCEK: I think it could but it want's to mount to a verticle
surface.
2012-07-16SCOTT WEBER: I did not mount it to a teak platform.
2012-07-16KEVIN LAWSON: My guess would be no. I recently bought one. It is designed for mount directly on your transom. The mounting bracket is about four inches long. The ladder slides into the bracket and hangs down into the water. As a transom mount it is an excellent ladder. NOTE: attach a tether to the ladder because if you drop it while connecting or removing on the water it will go straight to the bottom.
2012-07-17DONALD HULL: It needs a firm flat vertical surface to mount on. Such as the transom , where mine is mounted. Hope this helps.
2012-02-20STEPHEN MALONE asked: I have a 1977 tri-hull ebbtide. The area is about 18 inces wide on iether side of the outboard. Not sure of the slope. The picture of the mounting bracket looks as if it takes this into consideration. Any forseeable problems?
+Expand Answers
2012-02-21ROBERT LIPELLA: The ladder was fairly easy to install and does have angle bracket for slope
If transom angle is zero - ladder will work great
Overall construction is heavy duty and good quality material
2012-02-22MARK HAWKINS: Hi Steven,
The ladder is a good product and I am happy with it. The problem is that the transom mount varies from boat to boat. You will most likly need to have some kind of wedge made to make the angle right for you. You might luck out & the angle is riget for you. If not ...No big deal. Have a wedge cut of a good quality material and either incorporate that as part of your install or toss the supplied piece & make your own one piece wedge... Thats what I ended up doing &it works just fine

2011-09-30HORACE JOHNSON: It should mount to your boat. I bought it because of its sturdy construction and it's Made In America!
2011-09-30MARK MONTGOMERY: The ladder should fit the stern of most powerboats and if you need there are accessories for steep inclines. I liked the value and that I can climb with fins.

2011-09-30HANK GOODMAN: The price was better at Jamestown Dist. and over other the brands that are similar. I bought 2 mounting brackets and use one ladder on two boats. It's east to install and my wife and grandson love it. I have already recommended it to several others. To check mounting area I got a wood block the size of the base and moved it around till I found a good spot. On one of my boats i had to make a stand off of 1.5" but no worries.

Comments about Windline Sport/Diver Boarding Ladder:
Was looking for a sturdy removable ladder and this product is nearly perfect! Climbing up is like climbing stairs! Well built, comes with storage clips, and it floats! Probably the only thing I would change in it's design would be to add a recessed loop at the top to attach a tether, and make the bottom cap a bright color so that you can see it floating since it floats upside down! Both of these are minor things, and are easily rectified.

Comments about Windline Sport/Diver Boarding Ladder:
Product is great, just as advertised and very fast delivery. Lightweight and easy to attach and remove. It's nice that it floats. It stores easily with included brackets. Would have been perfect except the wedge block used for mounting had the holes drilled perpendicular to the wrong side so bolts couldn't pass through boat and block without extreme elongation of holes.

Comments about Windline Sport/Diver Boarding Ladder:
This item is solidly built, and appears to be very high quality. I was at first disappointed it did not include mounting hardware, but I guess it really can't since it is boat specific based on transom thickness. To save yourself some time when you order, you will also need 4X 3/8-16 stainless steel bolts, length 3" + your transom thickness, lockwashers, nuts, and marine grade sealant, for installation. [...] The ladder itself is top notch, Installation is easy enough if you have any mechanical apptitude at all, and the price at JTI beats any other I found online.
