About Jamestown & Our History

Jamestown Distributors is an industry leader in marine and building supplies. We're a family-run business based in Bristol, RI - a town with a rich boat building tradition - and have been supplying and assisting boaters for over 30 years. In our 40,000 square foot warehouse we've got everything you need to maintain, restore and even build your own craft. The most important thing you'll find, however, is our team of boat lovers who really know their stuff.

We started selling Marine Fasteners to local boat builders and boatyards in 1977. Since then, our offering has grown to include marine epoxies, fiberglass and composite materials as well as marine paints, hardware and tools. We pride ourselves in offering the best selection of marine fasteners available, including everything silicon bronze, stainless steel, brass and galvanized. We literally started the business by stocking the “hard-to-find fasteners” and we are proud to say that is still one of our goals.

Our success has always been due to the loyalty of our customers. Some of these customers have been with us since the beginning, working on the same project even. But, whether it’s your first project or your one millionth we want to hear from you. Let us know what your latest project is and how we can help. That is what Jamestown Distributors is all about.

What Our Customers Are Saying
Jamestown has always done an excellent job with deliveries and quality. Nice to see a company out there that is still interested in quality and service. The effort your making to follow up on this is just one more example of it.
— Jim Lowe
The crew at JD can be relied upon to have the answers to product questions; either on the tip of their tongue or they'll find the answer in a couple of minutes. Very deep knowledge base, experience, patience and perspective on the customer's use of the product and as a result their needs.
— Warren D
You guys are awesome! You are clearly experts in boat restoration, and gave me plenty of useful nuggets of information I hadn't thought of, but make perfect sense, and I believe your input will lead to a more successful project for me.
— John K
I love that you work with small woodworking businesses that I follow on Instagram and allow them to offer discounts. That shows true dedication to helping small business owners succeed in their endeavors. Thank you for that!
— Aaron G
The big thing for me, you have a number to call Jamestown Distributors and speak to a human. I might have a small question to ask, they are always there to help. Second, they do have good prices, hands down. This is what I tell others.
— Thomas
I've been extremely pleased with the quality of the items I have purchased so far and even more impressed with your company. The restoration of this 1963 Lone Star El Dorado couldn't have happened without Jamestown and TotalBoat products. Thank you.
— Daniel A
I found the product I purchased, TotalTread Non Skid deck paint via an internet search for "best non-skid marine deck paint" and was impressed by the reviews your product received and the price it was offered at. I had heard good reports about JD's service, etc but being on the west coast had never made a purchase. Looking up the product on the site, I was pleased to see the links to technical details, application tips, etc. The site was easy to navigate, information readily available and the overall experience painless and to the point.
— Harry
Website was awesome. Easy to make an order and there were tons of instructional videos that helped me choose the right products, and feel confident I could tackle the job of repainting my boat antifouling and topside
— Paul
You are my "Go To" supplier for my boats. (The guys at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum's boatyard recommended y'all several years ago) I recently received an 8 case order including a lot of paint. Everything arrived in PERFECT condition thanks to your attention to packaging detail. I've purchased from other companies that didn't care as much, and the nightmares that arrived reflected it. Kudos to your shipping department!
— Don R
As primary parts person, I love your customer service, including the accuracy and reliability of your web site AND the people on the other end of every phone call. Thanks!
— Rosemary
My son is a custom drum maker and restorer. We use Total Boat varnish to finish the drums that will be used outdoors and have had great success. We are currently doing restoration that involves removing the entire outer ply of the shell and replacing it with new material. The fairing compound will be used to level the surface before application of the new outer ply. Thanks for great products.
— Bill W
1. Appreciate the added information you provide on line for products on website. 2. VERY APPRECIATIVE that you provide the quantity of product you have available. Too many on-line vendors take orders before explaining that merchandise is not in stock and "backordered" with unknown delivery date.
— Jim
Your website is very informative. The videos are most helpful. My last order was for deck caulk, and you were the only ones who sent me unexpired caulk.Three other suppliers sent me 1-2 year old product. Thank you for your diligence and expertise.

Mike Mills
President

Mike (the President of Jamestown Distributors) started in the warehouse ten years ago when the business was still located in Jamestown. He slowly worked his way into the marketing department and then the call center, and now, finally, somehow they put him in charge! The products and the website are his passion, but he does have to do some managing and general administrative things, as well.

He and his wife Nina have three little girls. He enjoys sailing, fishing, surfing and kitesurfing. Mike grew up sailing dinghies in high school and college. After college he raced 505s and A Class catamarans... until he discovered kiteboarding. During the winter you'll find him in the shop working on a beetlecat or taking his kids skiing.

Want a job you’ll love?

Come join the team. Jamestown's offices and warehouse are a friendly, fun and professional environment. We offer employee discounts, a casual work environment and a competitive benefits package.

Organizations we support

We like boats -- we like working on them, playing on them and the lifestyle that comes with having a boat. Jamestown Distributors has been helping people with their boats and boatbuilding needs since 1977.

We take pride in working on and caring for our boats. In return our boats take us out on the water and become much more than a toy or a material object.

At Jamestown, we feel that it is our responsibility to support, foster and encourage this relationship with people and their boats. Over the years we have partnered with a few organizations to meet that goal.

How to Request a Donation

Jamestown's charitable donations are given to local non-profit organizations that support our mission of supporting Boaters and their Craft.
