Harken Sailing Hardware

Harken is a leading manufacturer and marketer of quality sailboat hardware and accessories. The blocks, travelers, furling systems and winches produced by Harken can be found aboard everything from the smallest dinghies to the largest megayachts and cruisers. Harken gear has been a dominant force in the racing segment for many years and debuted in the Olympics and America's Cup in 1976 and 1977.

Boat Blocks

For over 35 years, Harken classic blocks have stood the test of time and provided both racers and cruisers with strong, lightweight, dependable hardware for every trimming task. These blocks offer carbon black Delrin ball bearings that roll on flat races for exceptionally free-running blocks, high-strength stainless steel sideplates to distribute load evenly. Both the ball bearings and sideplates are UV-protected to provide maximum durability and a three-way head lock shackle in front or side positions, or swivels freely to keep line from twisting.

Harken offers a series of small boat blocks which are the foundation of the Harken product line, they come in a wide variety of sizes and styles and are strong, dependable and exceptionally free running. Their low-friction Carbo AirBlocks are lightweight, strong, reliable and affordable, and the popular Black Magic line are compact blocks that offer very high working loads for safe, easy trimming no matter how hard the wind blows.

McLube

Sailkote is an easy-to-apply, fast drying lubricant that instantly bonds to clean, dry surfaces, repelling dirt, salt, and reducing drag from air and water. This high performance product lasts significantly longer than Teflon additives, oil, or wax-based lubricants and is environmentally friendly, with no chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), petroleum, or poison-emitting toxins. Use Sailkote on mainsail tracks, hatches, sliding doors, sails, battens telltales, slider cars and tracks.

Hullkote is an environmentally friendly polish that deep cleans and protects your hull so it's always in racing condition. The long-lasting, high-gloss finish that it produces repels water to reduce drag for ultra-fast results. This polish is safe to use on fiberglass, metal, plexiglass and painted surfaces and can easily be applied over other waxes and polishes. When applied above the waterline, Hullkote will last more than a season, and more than 20 hard days of sailing when applied below the waterline.

Complementary Hardware

Harken manufactures a wide range of complimentary hardware, including sheaves, eyestraps, spinnaker pole end fittings and cars, as well as cam cleats and accessories.

Travelers & Genoa Leads

Harken introduced the recirculating ball bearing traveler over 25 years ago, since then racers and cruisers worldwide have depended on these strong, lightweight systems for free-running control and fast sail shape on all points of sail.

Winches

Harken manufactures a full product line of winches, including standard, power, racing, specialized, and ball-bearing handle winches.

  • Standard: Standard winches offered by Harken are reliable, rugged, and extremely efficient with more bearings than comparable winches. Available in one speed for small daysailers, two speed for small and medium sized boats, and three speeds which are primarily used on racing boats.

  • Power: Electric or hydraulic powered winches are great for cruising. Both hydraulic and electric winches can revert back to manual operation when a locking winch handle is inserted, automatically disconnecting the powered system. Harken offers hydraulic winches, power sources, and control systems that can drive winches, windlasses, furling, centerboard lifts, vangs, and backstays. For electric powered systems, match each winch with two switches and a control box for a less expensive alternative when deck plans call for just a few powered winches.

  • Racing: Because lighter boats are faster boats, Harken developed a line of racing winches designed to be extra lightweight. Racing winches feature PEEK roller bearings that ride in large-diameter cages to allow more bearings to carry the load and are 30% lighter than stainless. The wide body winch drums feature hollows between interior and exterior surface to reduce weight.
