Paint Rollers

Paint rollers are made up of several components, including a roller cover (sleeve), cage (the area of the roller frame the roller slides on), and handle. A good paint roller has a threaded handle or handle grip that will allow the roller to attach to a pole for additional reach. Quality paint rollers also allow easy and quick roller cover removal, and that the roller will stay in place during use.

Paint roller covers vary in their composition, density, nap, and application. Don't try to get by with cheap paint roller covers, as they are prone to splattering paint everywhere. For oil-based paints, we recommend a paint roller cover made of sheepskin, lamb's wool, or mohair, or synthetic fibers. Foam roller covers are best for applying gloss or semi gloss paints and leave no lint or stipple behind. Water and solvent based adhesive and epoxies work better with synthetic rollers with a short 1/8 inch nap and a smooth surface. Polyurethane foam roller covers work well with paint, varnish and epoxy. In general, use roller covers with dense fibers.

Roller trays and liners are available in solvent resistant metal and plastic versions. Plastic liners for metal trays are designed to protect metal paint trays from powerful solvents.

We carry paint rollers with covers, without covers, with or without cages, paint roller trays and more. We have paint roller sleeves to fit nearly all roller frames.
