Product Details

Davis Spar-Fly wind indicators combine needle bearing balance, high impact plastic and marine grade metals for unsurpassed wind indicating sensitivity and durability. Spoiler holes in the vane reduce lift and increase efficiency. Davis designed it to be unaffected by heel angle, and the Spar Fly's vibrant red V shaped silhouette makes wind direction easy to determine from anywhere on your sailboat's deck.

Comes equipped with two mounts (top and quick-release), and replacement vanes can be purchased separately.

Product works very well, though did not survive me turtling the boat in a shallow lake but will certainly pick up another.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Quick Glance Is Enough
By jack flash from Western New York

Most wind indicators are too small in my opinion. You have to look closely to use them. The Spar Fly is big enough to be useful, and a good color too. I have used it for twenty years. It has been replaced several times although I have never wore one out. They get knocked off by marina workers and by herons landing on them before they get old. It's nice that they still sell the wing as a replacement part because the basic unit is tough enough to withstand the bird abuse.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Good bang for the buck.

Good metal frame. The plastic vane lasted me about four years of light use. UV,s eventually broke down the polymer.
