Question

is it ok to use polyurethane after the teak oil or i9s it ok to use a good sealer?

Top Answer

I would not use Teak Sealer under polyurethane. It is best to have the wood as clean as possible with as much natural oils removed as possible to allow a finish to penetrate the grain. After stripping and sanding any finish/oils from the teak, I would wipe it down with acetone just before applying a finish. Also, I would not recommend polyurethane to be used on exterior applications. A good Spar Varnish or Cetol would be a better choice.
