I need to have a connector combination that connects two 30 amp power source cables to a 50 amp to ensure continuous power to my boat. Do you have such a devise?
Asked on 07/29/2013 by buzz milanthat is exactly the situation. I used one I borrowed from a fellow boater when all the 50 amp source were being used. It worked well. I connected the two 30 amp ends of the connector to the shore station power tower and the 50 amp end to my boat
Answered on 07/29/2013 by buzz milanThat was exactly my need as well. The Marinco Y Adaptor 2-30A to 50A did the trick. It's been powering my boat for about a year. Regards, Rick
Answered on 07/30/2013 by RICK HAMILTONNot sure I understand your situation. We've been using the Marinco Y adapter to supply two onboard 30 amp circuits from a single 50 amp shorepower supply for a couple years. It's worked well for us. But it sounds like you might be trying to run 2 30 amp shorepower cables to a single onboard 50 amp circuit. For that you'll need a different type of adapter.
Answered on 07/29/2013 by STEPHEN FORSYTHEOK. Took a quick look around the Jamestown site and found this: Marinco Reverse Y Adapter 50A 125/250V to 2-30A 125V. I haven't used one, but the description sounds like what you're looking for. HTH.
Answered on 07/29/2013 by STEPHEN FORSYTHEI just got one of these for Christmas, but I am not sure if it is the correct one for my required use. My boat has two thirty amp boat side plug in's. One designated to the A/C only and the other for everything else. I want to plug in 2, 30 amp cords at the boat and then at the shore power end plug them into this adapter with the 50 amp side of the adapter plugging in at the docks 50 amp shore power. My Y connection being at the dockside and not at the boat side. I would not use two 30 amp cords no 50 amp cord just the adapter. Based on this did I get the right connector? Part number 153AY?

Answered on 12/26/2013 by Jim RossmanThe next to the last sentence in your question is a little garbled, but I believe I'm using my Y connector exactly as you want to. I plug the 50 amp plug into the power pedestal and hook 2 30 amp cords from the boat to the 2 30 amp female connections in the Y. It works great. I also recommend that you use the locking rings on the 30 amp side that come with the Y connector to keep your connections tight and prevent overheating.
