Yes, there is an o-ring on the mushroom. Right and left does matter for the dogs, the mushroom works for both. My recollection is that you can derive from the manufacturers site which is which.

Answer

All parts come with the latch assembly, pin included.

Answered on 07/28/2014 by MARK WALTERS

Answer

I think you are talking about the mushroom headed cap that has a groove for holding the o ring. That part of the assembly was included when I purchased the dog assembly. Make sure that you put a smear of silicone grease on the o ring before you assemble it. You may also have to cut down the screw.

Answered on 07/28/2014 by ROBERT DEANE

Answer

William, There are two types of latch assembles in common use. This type, fastened through a hole in the lens, comes complete with the thru bolt (called a mushroom by Bomar). The mushroom has a built in "0" ring, stopping the most common type of latch leak. The assembly pictured comes with everything, latch, mushroom, and "0" ring, and bolt. Just put in the mushroom, hold the latch and mushroom with two of your three hands, and insert/tighten the bolt. The other type of latch has a knurled bolt that tightens over a pivot arm. The arm is secured to the frame (not the lens) with a "Roller Pin" - typically a 2mm pin. These are commonly available at hardware and marine stores. It is NOT supplied with this latch as it is not needed. /Stu

Question

If I buy the handle, does it come with the mushroom cap cap?

Asked on 06/23/2014 by Todd Zernick

Top Answer

It does. It also has a series of washers to allow for various thicknesses of plexi. Be careful to try various combos until you have the right number, discarding the ones you don't need.

Mine handle came with a new mushroom cap that was located outside the hatch lens. It also came with a new tiny "0" ring that I applied a small amount of silicon adhesive. It no longer leaks.

Question

Is the port side considered a left side for a latch?

Asked on 08/30/2013 by paul blanos

Top Answer

If I remember, the left side refers to the left side of the hatch as you look at it from the open side. I made the assumption when I ordered that port=left and got the wrong latch.

Question

the hole in the hatch is on the left looking at it from inside the cabin. is this akeft hand or right hand dog?

Asked on 07/09/2013 by Robert Burrell

Top Answer

I believe it would be right handed as the handle swings to the right to latch. However go to the internet and research Bomar Latch and there is a good explanation on which latch to buy and how to determine which latch you need.

Answer

You cut the screw to length. Put it together the way you should and measure how loose it is add about 3/16" and cut off that much from the screw. Use the screw cutter on your electrical crimpers to do this.

Answered on 06/05/2012 by BRUCE JONES

Answer

with a screwdriver...

Answered on 07/05/2012 by BARRY FIRTH

Answer

The latch is easy to assemble and install. The only caution is to select the correct number of shims that are provided with the latch. The shims are used to make the handle engage so the latch keeps the hatch tight to prevent leakage. But be carefull not to use to few of the shims as you could over thighten the latch and cause it to break. If you are purchasing only one latch make sure you know the left from the right otherwise you will have the wrong latch handle.

Yes it is. My hatch was lesking and it was the dogs. they were old and not sealing tight enough. I received a right and a left dog from Jamestown and installed them last week. Tthey were compleet and they included enough washer so they could be adjusted to my hatch.

Answered on 10/30/2011 by DON GIULIANO

Answer

Hey Mick,,,,not quite sure about what is a mushroom,,,but it is the entirelatch assembly....but now be careful for which side you want....I ordered the left side of my hatch....wrong got the right side because it is left turn close...so if you want the port (left) order the right turn close...don't do the mistake I did it will cost you ..... Jim

Answered on 10/20/2011 by JAMES TAYLOR

Answer

Mick, yes, the mushroom for outside the hatch is included. Be careful when ordering. I ordered the wrong part; P200053 Right Dog Assembly - is for the left side of the hatch on my boat and turns to the right. FYI. Enjoy boating. Gerald

Question

Is this the one for the starboard side of the hatch that will attach to the riser arm?

Asked on 09/20/2014 by Undisclosed

Hi. These are locking the hatch down, I am assuming you are looking for the knob that locks the slider, so adjusting the amount of opening.

Answer

I don't thi it makes a difference what side but yes that's what you want.

Answered on 09/20/2014 by MIKE DELAIR

Answer

I cannot be sure from the picture. If you have the old one it should have a marking for "L" or "R" if I recall. I am not on the boat to look at mine but I know my riser arm is on the port side. I think they are designed to handle the riser arm on either side put you do have to get the right one in order for it to swing properly. It seems like I recall that the one I ordered was the opposite of what I would have guessed. So the riser arm is not the issue but the swing direction. Probably not much help. I almost ordered both just to be sure.
