Answer

Hi Jason, How do I remove the cap. Is it the clear plastic cover with three indentions that look like a place to unscrew it. How do I get this off to access the basket? Thanks, Larry

Answered on 06/30/2014 by Larry Caldwell

Answer

I meant to say glass instead of strainer in my first response. The GLASS does not get removed. After removing the cap you can pull the strainer out.

Answer

Yes that's the cap. Turn it counter clockwise to unscrew it. If its too tight by hand then use a spanner wrench. It fits into the indentations.

Answer

The basket is not removed. There is a cap at the top of the strainer that is removed for access to the basket.

Answer Question

Question

My glass reservoir is broken. Can it be replaced without replacing the whole unit? Ifso, how is it removed?

Asked on 06/26/2018 by Old Salt from Niagara Falls, Canada

Top Answer

The glass can be replaced, and this is becoming slightly more common as some units are 30+ years old. The seals and gaskets are all available separately as well. The 4 bolts that hold the glass onto the bronze base need to be unscrewed. When reassembling with the new glass with a new gasket, be sure not to over tighten the bolts, as it can crack or break the new glass. It just needs to be snug enough that the gasket can do its thing.

Answer Question

Question

Is this jus the sight glass or does it come with the plug and o-ring? If not what is the part number for the plug and service kit.

Asked on 06/11/2018 by Ramey from Cumming, GA

Top Answer

It does not appear that the glass does not come with anything else. The link to the ARG series with all replacement parts is attached so if there are any other components needed, you can find them easily. https://www.groco.net/media/file/file/a/r/arg-series_6.pdf
