What is range of motion ... Ie will it open at least 90 degrees to accommodate a carry-on AC unit?
Asked on 07/28/2013 by UndisclosedRange of motion is about 150 degrees. Well beyond 90.
Answered on 08/11/2013 by JOHN HOWARDMine opens to 90 degrees (but no more) and will lock in place. I have not tried to install a hatch AC, so I can't comment on that. I used the hatch to replace the exact same type of hatch (which made installation easy). I hope I can add a hatch AC unit later. My only advice regarding the AC unit is I would check the AC manufacturer's specs and compare to the hatch opening. One thing to consider might be the locking mechanism for the latch lid (shown on the left side of the picture). Although not very large, it will reduce the finished opening size on that one corner and could make sealing the AC unit around the hatch a little tricky.
Answered on 07/29/2013 by CHUCK MCDOWELLIt does open to 90 degrees but no more so it depends on your ac unit.
Answered on 07/30/2013 by DOUG WHITEYes, it open approx 150 degrees. The opening does have the hold open strut on one side so the availablel width is about 1 1/4 inch less than the opening listed.
Answered on 07/28/2013 by RUSSELL PURYEARRange of opening is about 95-100 degrees. However there is the arm which holds the hatch up which may imterfer with the AC unit unless it is removed

Asked on 08/01/2016 by Bill DepelNot sure what Bomar uses, Plexus MA310 would work.
Answered on 03/07/2017 byI used 5200. Not sure it was the best, but it was what I had. Previous hatch with 5200 lasted 12 years, which included 9 hurricanes, 4 direct hits.

Asked on 03/30/2015 by miguel anastasiaI had wanted to replace the mid cabin hatch on my Bristol 35.5, which was cast aluminums broken). I ordered the new Bomar hatch, which is much lighter being basically all plastic. My boat yard recomme3nded that I not install it as it is more likely to wear out within a relatively short period of time. Also, I worried that it could not stand up to heavy foot work when changing sails, etc. I returned it and got full credit from Jamestown (thank you). I think Bomar can provide a hatch like the original, but something tells me it was something of the order of $1000. Being somewhat handy, I simply unbolted the broken arm and replaced it with a simple swing-up propping arm out of permally (?) attached to the original bolt. It works fine, no trouble.
Answered on 03/30/2015 by LAURENT DESCHAMPSDoesn't look like the Bomar 900 or 2000 series hatches meet your specs of 18 3/8 X 18 1/2 OD. This is what a service tech at Bomar told me. Contact Select Plastics in E. Norwalk CT. They specialize in repair and fabrication of marine products, including hatches. They have a web site, so check them out. Good Luck, Jeff

Asked on 03/05/2017 by Bill from Bow New HampshireWe don't have a reference on what hatches are used on specific boats. The best way is to measure the opening and choose one that will fit.
