Question

I have a Teleflex SSC1247515 and am unable to find an exact part number match. Several are close but the"75" before the 15, in the number I cant seem to locate. I haven't been able to find out for sure what the"75" means and not sure how it will affect the operation if I use a cable with a slightly different number?

On my boat, the old cables numbers were not legible, Think if you order the correct length ,number doesn't matter. These cables work for a champion 186 year 1997.

Well I have cable model number SSC13474 and the "7" is definitely a "7". Are you saying the "74" indicates a 14' cable? My plastic jacket is 12 ft. Adding 30" and rounding up gets me to a 15 ft cable. What should I order?

Answer

The last two digits are always the length of cable. That looks like a "7" but is suppose to be a "1". If you want a 15' that is fine but technically it is a 14'.

Answered on 07/08/2014 by BRIAN PERRY

Answer

That "74" on the end is actually a "14". Last two digits are length of cable.

Do you measure from the gear on the rack or the end of the rack? Also near the motor do you measure to the nut on the cable or the end of the steering shaft?

I'm not sure I understand your question correctly, but if you are looking for a 13.5' steering cable they are only sold in full foot lengths. You must use either a 13' or a 14' cable.

Answer Question

Question

What length steering cable do I need for a 2000 Malibu Escape 23' V-drive and it's cost? Does the electrical connection for the RPM gauge go into the MDC - 1600 box under the dash. The reason I ask is the speedometer has been acting up and now the RPM tachometer is acting up. I can live without the speedometer but would like the Tach.

Asked on 09/21/2018 by bill from New Hampshire

Top Answer

Sorry, we don't have any boat references to go by for length, there should be a number stamped on the black part of the cable, usually the last 2 numbers are the length.
