Answer

You would have to drill a fairly large hole to do that and I don't know how strong the threads would be in that instance.

Answer

Not without help. It will need a pilot hole as big as the minor thread diameter(hold a drill bit up to the screw and if it is as large as the shank it will work) and some bar soap rubbed on the threads.

Answer

Depending on the type of aluminum and with the correct size pilot hole it would be possible. Not knowing what you are trying to achieve you may also consider an 8-32 machine screw and tapping a thread into the plate, or thru hole with a nut on the back.

Answer

Not sure, I used them on an aluminum boat. The thickness was a lot less than 1/4". They worked great for it.

Answer

It's a self tapping screw meaning it will make it's own threads in a hole. It does not make it's own hole in aluminum. You must drill a hole in aluminum for these screws.
