#12 Oval head phillips drive self tapping screws made of stainless steel. Sometimes called sheet metal screws or self tappers, these fasteners are common for home repairs as well as installing hardware on your boat. Oval head screws are used primarily for trim work or anywhere a smooth top is desired. The slightly rounded head projects above the finished surface and prevents the snags that occur when a flat head screw is not fully countersunk. Use where appearance is a factor.

18-8 stainless steel Marine grade 300 series stainless steel. 18-8 Stainless is the workhorse for modern boatbuilding. Self Tapping screws are designed for use in sheet metal but are great for mounting hardware onto laminates wood or many other applications. Self Tapping Screws have a deep thread that goes all the way up the shank to the head. All of our Self Tappers have an A point.

The box I received has two different head sizes. one is #3 phillips and the other is #2- #3 should be consistant in any shipped lot for a #12 screw 2.5inchs long. the size of the screws also seem to be a mix of #10 and #12 which would explain the head size difference. I am not going to return them, since they will go to use, but I am dissappointed the 100 pcs received and not 100 of the same size
