3M #471 Plastic tape is designed to mask for painting Bootstripes and detail masking. It is a blue vinyl plastic tape. Safe Release for one month. 36 Yard Rolls. This vinyl tape is highly conformable and resistant to heavy abrasion and most common solvents. The specially formulated rubber adhesive system is designed for applications requiring clean removal. I would not recommend this product. Used it to tape off some stripes I was painting. Left a ton of adhesive behind when the tape was removed. Also pulled off the paint underneath in several places.

I use this to redo the boat stripe at the waterline of my Cape Dory Typhoon. It is the best I have found to conform to the compound curvature of the hull. It is, however, a bit pricey.
