Question

Can you purchase screw inshackle pins separately?

Asked on 06/24/2018 by Ken from Eastsound, WA

Top Answer

The manufacturer does sell pins independently, but you would have to call one of our sales associates at (800) 497-0010 and place a special order for these. Depending on your shackle size and quantity, it may end up being cost prohibitive.

Answer Question

Question

What size anchor shackle do you recommend for Windlass Grade 30 BBB 3/8" dia. ACCO chain with a working load limit of 2650 lbs.?

Asked on 09/01/2013 by J Block

Top Answer

The answer is actually quite simple. Use the largest shackle size in which the pin of the shackle will fit through the chain link. The reason is that anchor shackles are the weak link in a chain rode. For 3/8" BBB that would probably be a 7/16" shackle.

Peter, Thank you for your quick and informative reply. Now I feel I can order the correct size shackles with confidence. Are the anchor shackles Jamestown Distributors displays with the red pin made by Crosby? Thanks, Joel
