When I bought sail palms years ago they had a buckle to allow for adjustment for different size hands. Where did the buckle go? Off to China I suppose.

The sharp edge on the leather strap needed to be trimmed so that it did not dig into the back of my hand. I also treated the leather with neatsfoot oil to soften and preserve the leather.

Excellent tool, a must for any seaman. The newer ones have the thimble held down with a plastic guard. The old ones used raw hide. As a traditionalist I was disappointed with the move to plastic. My old one lasted over 30 years and only broke down due to my lack of attention. We'll have to see how the new one holds up. Wish I had paid more attention to the original.
