Question

I'm planning to do bottom paint on my Sailboat with Pettit Trinidad SR in a few weeks. The bottom was last painted using the same paint and most of that paint is still adhering quite well. In preparing I plan to sand the bottom with a small sander but have no intention of stripping it. I am expecting some spots on the bottom to get down to the gelcoat when I sand. My question is, will it be ok to spot prime these spots or do I need to reprime the entire bottom prior to applying the SR? Thanks in advance!

You can spot prime without any issues. Be careful not to oversand. Thinning the gelcoat can promote blistering.
