Info & Guides
SPECIFICATIONS Teak Deck Sealant meets or exceeds the requirements of Federal Specifications TT-S-0027, Type II, and Military Specifications C-18255E (Ships), Type II.

SURFACE PREPARATION The surface must be dry, clean and free of all old caulking materials. Cut back weathered surfaces or rot by routing, sanding, or sawing to solid wood. Rotted wood maybe treated with "Git"-Rot. When new wood is coated with preservatives such as Woodlife, the surface must be thoroughly sanded before application. We recommend a thorough washing with an oil free solvent such as BoatLIFE Life-Calk Solvent and Cleaner or pure acetone1. If painting or varnishing is desired, it must be done prior to applying BoatLIFE Teak Deck Sealant.

JOINT EXPANSION It is recommended that dimensions be established for each joint in conformance with service conditions. Width of joint may be determined by calculating expansion and contraction of limits of the structure during temperature extremes and multiplying by a factor of 4. For example, if a joint will open and close 1/4" under temperature extremes, the joint should be designed 1/4" times 4, or 1" wide. No joint should be less then 1/8" wide.

very short shelf life/ not recommended
By Harry the deck hand from Tampa bay

Deck systems deck caulk has much longer unopened shelf life and applies smoothly compared to this. My uses were deck recaulking. I have 6 unopened cartidges that were dried out when opened in less than one year from purchase. could not use. .

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Am buying again...
By Woof from Olympia, WA

This applied smoothly and left professional looking seams. My boat is in Puget Sound, WA so weather windows for this type of work are iffy at best. This applied quickly, dried quickly. I recaulked the entire foredeck of my 38' sailboat 4 years ago and couldn't be happier with the results. Ran out and had to go to another caulk to finish. I'm now reordering because the other caulk has failed, but the BoatLife Teak Sealant still looks like it was done this season.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

IN ONE WORD "MISERABLE"
By JIm from NH

No matter how this stuff is approached it is nearly impossible to work up a technique to give a professional look. NO CONSISTENCY AT ALL It fills at different Uncontrolable heights when plastic putty knife is used to lay it flat. Nearly impossible to not leave marks in the surface.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend
