I highly recommend this product. I installed this on my 1974 Boston whaler Montauk. It was a close call as I have an older winged console and this does not sit as high as the orginal big t steering I had on it. It fit perfectly and install was a breeze. Hardest part is fishing the new cable through but even that was easy. Big fan of this no feed back steering in comparison to what I had. It's nice not having the motor jumping around or the wheel spinning to high hell when I grab one of the rods while trolling. I have heard others complain of friction with the nfb steering systems. None here. Smooth as can be. Great upgrade on a very old Whaler.

The videos Jamestown Distributors put on Youtube showed us how to remove our broken steering helm and cable. Talks with JD staff helped us decide on the best replacement steering system for our boat. The JD videos also showed us how to install the replacement Teleflex 4.2 NFB system. JD shipped the item promptly and it works perfectly. Thank you, JD.

No problem easy install on a Boston Whaler Montauk. Really improved steering from old sticky cable.

1990 Wellcraft Sportfish. Used orig manf # for cable length (13') replacement was shorter than original by about 6". Don't think longer (14') would have fit into center console. Must have a plan to deal with any cuts made in fiberglass to accommodate removal/replacement of engine end if engine removal is impractical. I used Starboard 1/2" to shrink enlarged cable exit down to original size.

Instruction were adequate and installation was fairly easy. Had a little trouble getting the steering wheel off and not sure if there was any instuctions for this item. The steering wheel and mating surface are tapered and secured with a nut that forces the steering wheel on the steering rod.

Replaced in kind steering system which had only two seasons of use. While the no feedback system works it is hard to turn at higher speeds. At low speeds its easy to turn. Installation can also be difficult as the last two feet of the cable is solid, and in some cases, like mine, the engine may need to be removed to install into the tilt tube. Helm installation is quite easy.
