Answer

About 1/4 of each of the bottles.

Answer

Sandi, I just purchased one bottle of each cleaner and a gallon of sealer for my large table and 6 chairs and had plenty left over. I would do a quart of sealer for one chair and table. My teak didn't get as clean as I'd hoped but this cleaner did the best job of everything I tried. I ordered honeytone but wish I ordered a darker color since I had many remaining areas of discoloration. Hope this helps.

Answer

The 1000 ml two-part kit will be way more than enough for a chair and bench. You'll have enough to clean your furniture for years to come.

do i need to treat with something elsa after using this product?

If you want to have your teak sealed, use one of the SIMCO sealers. Some have a tint to them so it looks new. The cleaners #1 and #2 work great. I just did my patio table this weekend and it looks great. It is a little messy, but it really works.

Answer

If you want a "Natural", full grain appearance there is no need to treat with anything after using the Semco 2 part teak sealer system. After treatment, the wood will appear to have no finish at all but water will bead up on the surface rather than soaking in. If you wish to change the color of your teak Semco comes in several color options. If you are looking for a glossy finish on your teak, it will be difficult to maintain. The natural oils that make teak so durable make varnishing problematic. It just doesn't want to stick well. For a gloss finish your best bet is to coat with West or simiar epoxy and then varnish to provide UV protection to the epoxy. I personally go with the easy route and use Semco every couple of years.

I have a swim platform on my tow boat that is around 10 sq ft. I used four ounces from each bottle to clean the entire swim platform. Lasted all season.

What's the water to cleaner ration for both Part 1 and Part 2 Cleaner?

Top Answer

There is not ratio. Simply wet down the surface to be cleaned, then apply the cleaner directly.

Answer Question

Question

How much 2 part cleaner would I order to clean 2 teak 4 ft long, heavy porch swing benches with extremely faded orange stain. This faint stain only covers a third to a half of the benches. I used some water and a brass brush until I found your instructions warning against using the brass brush. It actually worked...have I damaged the surface of the wood? Your help is most appreciated! I think the 2 quart kit of Teak Cleaner would be enough. You should be able to sand smooth any scratch marks from the brush and then seal it after cleaning.

What is the coverage?

Asked on 05/20/2014 by Daniel Bliss

Top Answer

I used a little more than a quarter of a bottle of the cleaner and brightener on 4 pieces of 1 ft wide by 5ft long teak boards. Doesn't take much if you get a higher end spray bottle from home depot or lowes. Just use the sprayer portion, it will fit on the Semco bottles so you don't spill it pouring it into the other bottles. Follow directions on bottle.
