We bought these to replace our old shackles while splicing new halyards last winter. After only one season of weekend sailing on the Chesapeake (hardly extreme conditions) both shackles are exhibiting significant signs of corrosion. The Ronstan site specifically indicates the body and internal components are 316 stainless, so this is pretty disappointing, especially considering the price. In order to replace them, I'd need to cut and resplice my halyards, which I obviously don't want to do since they're less than a year old.
