Question

What is the bore / countersink depth of the Type C at the collar. I need a 1/2" diameter countersink that is 7/8" deep using a 1/4" bit. Which do you suggest I purchase. Thanks, Bill

Asked on 03/17/2018 by Bill from NC

Top Answer

The C12 countersink only has a cut depth of roughly 1/2" before you will run into the collar.

Answer

The 1/2" cylindrical boring part is only 7/16" long before the collar/stop. Eric

Answer

My collar is only 7/16 inch from tip. Suggest you consider Type E countersink that mounts on a standard drill bit or Type J countersink.

Question

Hello: I just purchased a brand new 14 pc. set of fuller countersinks. They are in an orange wood block, just like the type C,but mine say type H.The set goes from H5S to H18S.Are these the same countersink ?? are they made to use straight shank drills,or tapered shank drills ??? Thanks much. Bill G.

H refers to High speed steel. C type are Case-hardened carbide steel. You can use either drill bit type, but the tapered bits are designed for wood or plastic applications.

Question

this counter sink 3/8 and 1/8 will will be fine to use in pocket hole screw #8 ?

Asked on 12/01/2012 by Alfonso Ramos

Top Answer

For a #8 screw if you're using a Taper Drill Bit, you will need the "FUL-C8" and the corresponding "11/64 Taper" for hard wood, for softwood you need the "FUL-C7" and the "5/32 Taper". If it's a straight drill bit you're using then the "FUL-C5"; "1/8 Regular" for hardwood, and the "FUL-C57"; "7/64 Regular" for softwood, thank you.
