I did have high expectations for my table design .

This was an unfortunate circumstance, which I don't blame you folks for; I simply had a ""time"" issue. To answer your question--the mahogany/cherry table came out fine with a different style hinge. P.S. Thank you for asking!

Q: null The 1 1/4"" is a nice hinge, but where are you supposed to find #5 S/S self tapping flat head screws to use with this hinge? The size #5 is not a standard size, and other than wood screws, it seems #5 S/S self tappers are not available anywhere. Try searching for them on the web. This is why I used to buy the 1 1/16"" hinge that appears to be no longer made, it took a #4 screw, which you can find. Frustrating!

A: The only difference between self tapping and a wood screw is that the threads don't extend the full length of the screw. Is the substrate less than 1/2 thick?

Q: null Can these be cut to shorter lengths, or do you need to use the full 6-feet?

A: Yes, the piano hinge can be cut with a hack saw. File the edge clean after cutting.
