Racor diesel replacement filter elements work with Diesel Spin On Fuel Filter/Water Separators. The lower the micron rating, the finer the filtration for the fuel filters. Lower micron ratings should be considered when there is no additional downstream filtration. Refer to the chart below to determine appropriate filter application.

Although most years it is hard to know just how well the filter worked (no problems very little evidence of foreign material in filter) in the one year that tank contamination resulted in enough material trapped in the filter to seriously degrade engine performance, the filter had stopped all that material from getting to the engine fuel system.
