Used to patch the Poly Coroplast RV underside cover. Seems to adhere very well.

By far the best bond to low surface energy plastics like Starboard, polyolefins, polyethylene and polypropylene. Not as good for FRP. You don't need much but you have to work fast. Pre-fit and rehearse before opening the tube and use minimum clamping presure to avoid starving the joint. It is best to flame treat Starboard. That raises the surface energy and vastly improves bond strength. Just run a propane torch lightly over the surface to be glued until it starts to look a little oily. Assemble within about 30 minutes of treating. I made a special cockpit floor hatch of 1/2" Starboard with Starboard reinforcing on the back side. After 5 years of walking over it is as strong as ever with no separation. I repaired a polyethylene dash board less than 1/8" thick that was cracked in several places by edge gluing with no reinforcing on the back side and it is holding up very nicely. The down side is you only have 2 or 3 minutes to position parts and maybe another 2 to clamp. The nozzles are expensiev and the glue in the nozzles will set up and become useless in less than 7 or 8 minutes. If you have several parts to glue you can extend the life of the nozzle some by keeping the nozzle cold. I drop the applicator, nozzzle first, in a glass of ice water between uses and dry it on a paper towel when ready to glue the next part. The demo video is wrong. Load the cartrige in the applicator and squirt a small amount BEFORE attatching the nozzle to insure that both components are being dispensed properly. Dispose of the first little squeeze out the nozzle. It may not be properly mixed. Also throw away the little cap and leave the nozzle on after use. It will set up and seal the tube but you can remove it for next use. The original cap will be contaminated with hardner when you removed it. If you reuse it it can perminently seal the tube. BTW, the published shelf life of 8005 is only 6 months in the refrigerator so don't buy too much. However, I have used some that had been in the frige for over two years and it set up fine. Just not as strong as when fresh.

As an engineer, I did a bit of research on bonding polypropylene, even going to pH D friend from 3M. The 3M gun was well designed and easy to use. 150-grit prep, alcohol wash, and then glue. Also used fiber glass cloth to reinforce some areas (not pretty, but tough) and the results were great. Highly recommend the Scotch Weld 8005 for hard-to bond products.
