The kevlar tape is great to work with if you use masking tape on the cut ends to prevent unraveling, the existing sides are perfect for repairs and as a keel strip. Its best to use a good penetrating epoxy to get the best results or like i did was to soak the tape in slow setting epoxy and then massaged it into the tape before setting on the surface intended for repairs. Once set things looked good and only the masking tape ends were sanded and re-epoxied to make a smooth transition.

I don't have a lot of experience with fiberglass, so I can't make much of a comparison there. What I can say though is that this tape is very difficult to cut. I found that by laying the tape across a 2x4 I can cut it with several passes of a utility knife. Hopefully that toughness will translate to increased strength in my lay-up.
