The Sahara have good longevity as the pump that I replaced was initially put in in August 09 & I only replaced it in May 2012. I would sincerely recommend them to anyone

Answer

Do you have a 2 position switch? Possibly it is set on automatic. Also press the button on the side of the pump to see if that will turn it on. You can also remove the pump with the wiring and use a volt/ohm meter to check the float switch.

I just purchased an attwood bilge pump model number 4505 is this the same at the 45057? I am also interested in the control switch 7615a and fuse connector 14341. I live in Burlington Vt. 05401 Is there a local store where I can buy these? Thanks

Gerald, I am not a technical type of person, all I can tell you is that I think the product is excellent and find it durable and effective and furthermore I will only use this product on my boat. I suggest that you contact the manufacturer direct for technical advice. Regards Shaun

Hmmm, I don't know what the 4505 bracket is? From a previous model? My installation of the pump as delivered was very simple and straightforward. Good luck!

Answer Question

Question

I am thinking of using this pump to drain a small tank that my clothes washer will empty into, since the washer has trouble pumping water up to where the outlet hose is located in the basement. Is this a submersible pump? If not, how does the switch work? Can it handle a little lint from clothes?

Asked on 01/05/2012 by Undisclosed

Top Answer

You could use this pump, but, remember that it is for 12 volts not 120 volts. So you woul need a 12 volt power supply. Probably not the best choice for your application. It is a submersible pump with a float switch located internally and it could handle the lint.

Answer Question

Question

My Sahara S500 pumps well on manual setting. On automatic setting it does not start unless I tap it or touch the test knob. When I do that, then the pump works well and shuts off when the level is down. Both the float chamber and the pump impeller are completely clear of debris. It acts like contacts are dirty, but there is no way to get at them. What can I do?

Asked on 09/03/2011 by Jere Brophy

Top Answer

Jere: Jamestown sent me this question as I just orders this pump for my boat. It actually is a replacement for an S500 that burned out due to debris in the impeller. I do not not have the issue that you state. My pump works fine and in fact I currently use in only in the automatic mode. I would look at the removable housing and make sure that it is not binding the float in some way and if that is not the case I would try a shot of WD40 on the float pivot points. If that doesn't work for you I would go back to Jamestown and ask for a replacement.
