Question

how do you know when to change fuel filter?

Asked on 08/01/2014 by Undisclosed

Top Answer

No less than once a year. I was with a friend who didn't change the filter for a couple years until we were fishing and smelled gas-the filter had rusted thru . Also, anytime a fuel problem is suspected. Remove and dump gas carefully in a container where it can be checked for water or debris

Answer

Depending on how much you use the boat, at least every 9 to 12 months.

Answer

I'm not aware of any specific interval/hour changes. I change my filter every 100 hours because I live in NY and E85 ethanol fuel and day to day temperature changes. Small price to pay to save on big time repairs or worse yet bearing down at sea. Just my 2 cents

Answer

I change mine once a year as a part of annual maintenance. I put about 100 hours a year on the engine . So far no problem.
