Which filler would be better to make a putty-like filler for recessed screws, Cab-o-sil or phenolic micro balloon? I am using silicon-bronze screws in white oak for the frames and meranti plywood for the hull.

The cab-o-sil will work but sands a little harder than WEST System 410 Microlight Filler.

Ed D: Have ground out the gel coat in areas with cracks, chips and blister to the bottom on my fiberglass boat. 1.) Is this a product to use directly on fiberglass? 2.)If the ground-out areas (typically 1-2" in diameter) aren't filled to their full depth with this product, to become the final top coat - will a layer of gel coat, after sanding, adhere to Cab-O-Sil properly?
