Get the Jenn

I bought these one time when JD was out of the Jenn. They wouldn't hold their shape for varnish and quickly turned into a spongey blob on a stick. Until then, I didn't think there was a difference in foam brushes. I'm not sure why these cost more than the the others. The others work better and are less expensive.

I will not buy this product again

Planned to use them for varnishing. Big mistake. They are not worth the extra money. They are too spongy to control the flow of paint or varnish.

Not the best

Head breaks from the handle under little pressure. The connection point of the foam head to the handle is weak. I've been looking for a decent foam brush and I had hoped these would be good based on the web site, but theses were not what I was hoping for.

Good Results with varnish

I have used Red Tree foam brushes for years to apply high gloss spar varnish with very good results. The brushes held up for multiple uses and cleaning with paint thinner. Most recently, I have seen a change in the durability of the brushes. The last batch of Red Tree brushes I bought (about a year ago) only lasted a short while before the foam fell off the plastic stiffener. I suspect there may have been a change in the quality of foam or glue used to make the brushes. They also did not hold up well when applying Interlux Bright Side one part paint. I still plan to buy Red Tree brushes on my next box.

DO NOT BUY

I purchased a box of 2"", 3"", and 4"" based on the recommendation when picking up at the store. I could not be more disappointed. The brushes suck. I have been buying from the local Ace Hardware and will go back to buying there. These are too soft. They are poorly built with the handle being butt glued to a cheap piece of plastic on top of the foam. So nothing to support the foam and the glue joint breaks in the first minute of use. 20% of the brushes had broken off handles in the box. DO NOT BUY THIS CHEAP AND POORLY BUILT FOAM BRUSH.
