Care and Maintenance

Carver Square Bimini Top

  • Regularly brush off any loose dirt with a soft brush, and rinse with lukewarm water. To clean the boat cover, use a solution of lukewarm water and a mild natural soap - rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry. Detergent is no recommended as it may diminish the water repellent finish on certain fabrics and invite the growth of mildew. 303 Fabric & Vinyl Cleaner is recommended as a way to safely remove dirt and difficult stains.

  • Regular exposure and cleaning can diminish the water repellency of certain boat cover fabrics over time. The water repellent finish used on most boat cover fabrics allows water to bead and run off similar to that of a waxed car. When water beading diminishes, the use of 303 High Tech Fabric Guard is recommended to help restore the water repellency of your cover.

    • Avoid letting water, snow or other materials like leaves and sticks stand on the boat cover.
    • Use support poles, straps, or bows to prevent water from pooling on the boat cover.
    • Always tie the boat cover down securely. When trailering, use heavy-duty tie down straps, and avoid using bungee cords that can stretch and possibly cause damage to the cover and your boat's finish.
    • Take the precaution of padding windshield, trolling motors, depth finders, etc. before installing the boat cover to avoid accidental tearing.
    • Allow boat cover to dry thoroughly before folding for storage.

    Bimini Tops

    • Cheack all screws and fittings regularly and tighten as needed.
    • Be sure the hold down straps are tight, there should be no slack in the hold-down straps when attached to the eye straps on the gunwale.
    • When trailering, fold down the bimini top and stow in the storage boot.
    • Do not exceed 35 MPH with the bimini top deployed, and be aware of wind speeds.

    Selecting A Boat Cover

There are a few things to consider when selecting a boat cover:

  • Consider transportation and whether you will be using a trailer. if so the custom fit and styled-to-fit boat covers are suitable for travel when tied down properly. The better the fit of the cover, the better the cover travels, providing greater protection for your boat.

  • If you are storing your boat in a protected area in the off-season, if so an economical choice, like the flex-fit cover would be a good choice for you.

  • The location of your boat is also a consideration that should be thought of, if it is in an area where there are extreme weather changes you may want to seek out one of Carver's more durable fabrics.

  • Choosing the right cover can prolong the beauty of seats, instrument panels, etc., so if UV protection is important to you Carver recommends light colors, like Haze Gray and Beige to best deflect the sun, and keep the interior of your boat as cool as possible.

    Selecting A Bimini Top

When selecting a Bimini Top you need to know the length, height and width of the top your boat requires. There are a few easy steps to follow to determine this.

Carver Bimini To Selection1. Determine what portion of your boat you want the top cover. The tops come in 5', 5'6", 6'8", 9' and 10' lengths.

    2. Determine where you want the top mounted. Measure the width between these two points to determine the width of your top. All mounting hardware is included with Carver tops, including universal deck hinges with 90° stops to allow mounting in virtually any position.

    3. To help determine how high your top needs to be, stand inside your boat and measure the distance in height from the mounting points to the height you desire.
