Retail Store Associate

Position Outline:

The JD Retail Store Associate represents the company with enthusiasm and professionalism in all areas of customer service. The primary focus of the position is to assisting customers with their product needs and provide solutions with Jamestown Distributor product and TotalBoat branded products.  The JD Retail Store Associate provides an exemplary customer experience by asking the customer questions to determine their needs and engaging the customer with their product knowledge, and suggests the best appropriate items for the customer’s needs.  The JD Retail Store Associate also checks and resets the store inventory, and maintains the quality and presentation of the store.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide outstanding customer service. Assist customer’s needs by utilizing knowledge of our products’ features, values and benefits.
  • Develop product knowledge to provide a high level of service to the customer.
  • Learn the TotalBoat product line and upsell/cross sell TotalBoat.
  • Actively participate in all sales and promotional programs that drive sales.
  • Follow all procedures and policies to ensure continuity.
  • Daily reset of the store products, ensure product counts are accurate and price changes are made.
  • Ensure the store is neat, clean, and organized throughout each business day.
  • Document any customer ideas/issues/complaints into the doc provided. 
  • Be able to perform opening and closing duties as required.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to engage and connect with customers.
  • Retail sales experience is required.
  • Data entry and computer experience required. Experience with an ERP computer system a plus.
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work Saturdays and holidays when open.
  • Boat building, woodworking, and marine product experience is a plus.

HR Manager

Position Outline:

This role is directly responsible for managing all the Human Resource functions within the business. The successful candidate will be charged with developing an employee-centric company culture that emphasizes continuous improvement. Attracting and retaining top talent will be key in achieving this.

Responsibilities:
  • Act as a business partner to managers to develop and implement training programs for; employee onboarding, role specific training, and employee development in line with company values.
  • communication with employees to review results.
  • Drive effective and efficient recruitment efforts for all open positions resulting in high quality hires. Responsible for full life cycle of the recruitment process including; writing and placing advertisements, working with hiring managers to screen, test and interview candidates, conduct reference checks, extend job offers and coordinate new-employee orientation/on-boarding.
  • Ensure that all job descriptions and compensation packages are current and competitive. Develop and maintain salary ranges as required.

  • Responsible for all employee benefits programs and communication to employees. Periodically review benefits, recommending changes that will set the company apart from its competitors.
  • Develop, maintain and file all reports and logs required to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, administration of benefits, recruitment, organization development, employee engagement, and employee development
  • Strong business acumen and ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in a high transaction environment, ability to maintain detailed records.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, and databases.
Education: BA/BS in Business or equivalent years of experience.

Inside Sales Representative

The Inside Sales Representative will be responsible for identifying, prospecting and building relationships with consumer and commercial customers in a personable manner. Promote Jamestown Distributors enthusiastically within their territory and provide superior customer service for all accounts through consistent contact and follow-up skills. Use knowledge of JD systems and materials to drive sales, research information and provide problem-solving support within a timely manner, to maintain customer satisfaction, and account expansion.

Responsibilities:
  • Generate sales leads through cold calls, prospecting and marketing
  • Promote, market and sell Jamestown Distributors products via phone and email
  • Establish and develop relationships with potential new customers, maintain and expand relationships with existing customers
  • Develop a strong understanding of customers' needs and the solutions Jamestown Distributors offers
  • Support outside wholesaler through regular phone and email communication
  • Proactively problem solve and provide timely follow up with customers
  • Represent Jamestown Distributors in the community, attending boat shows and various public events
  • Contribute to the efficiency of the Sales department and Jamestown Distributors by performing other related duties, as assigned
Desired Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or G.E.D
  • Excellent listening, written and oral communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, drive and enthusiasm. Computer literacy required: Able to learn ERP system, MS Excel, MS Word, including typing skills of 30 WPM
  • Minimum of three years of Sales related experience. Must be able to demonstrate experience in relationship management and follow through skills. Marine industry experience, marine retail experience, and equivalent knowledge a plus.

Customer Service/Inside Sales Representative

Provide customer service and sales for Jamestown Distributors through consumer and commercial accounts in a personable manner. Provide customer service for all accounts through consistent contact and follow-up skills. Use knowledge of JD systems and materials to research information, process orders, provide problem-solving support, and tech support, within a timely manner, to maintain customer satisfaction, and account retention

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Respond to customer inquiries via inbound phone, fax and email support. Assure customer satisfaction in all requests, including: order status, product specifications and availability, payment terms, sales programs, JD policies, etc.
  • Processes customer orders in a timely and accurate way, verifying and communicating customer information, order and shipping details, recommending additional items needed for the customer's project including substitutions, and TotalBoat sales offers. The rep will answer technical calls, process internet orders, and other transaction processes as necessary
  • Follow up on all verbal and written communications with customer daily to ensure satisfaction.
  • Maintain scheduled daily outbound calling contact with specific territory of commercial accounts to drive sales, anticipate needs and provide pro-active customer service support.
  • Manage customer service systems daily to insure that orders are being expedited.
  • Report any irregularities or potential problems to the Call Center Manager.
  • Contribute to the efficiency of the sales department and Jamestown Distributors by performing other related duties, as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. or demonstrated skills in organization, written and oral communication.
  • Computer literacy required; able to learn ERP system, MS Excel, MS Word, including typing skills of 30 WPM
