TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy Kits

TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy is a low-viscosity wood rot restoration and repair solution that seals deeper & cures stronger than industry-leading penetrating epoxies. It has no VOCs, no odor & is 100% waterproof once cured.

This 2:1 system is ideal for restoring rotten or damaged wood, or sealing new wood for lasting protection against humidity, salt, mold & mildew. It works by gluing cellulose (wood) fibers back together, sealing a bare, porous wood surface from the inside out. Double the penetrating power by mixing acetone with the epoxy resin solution in equal volume. Easy to apply by brush, roller, or inject via syringe. Surfaces may be painted or varnished after light sanding.

Choose from Traditional (65-90 F) or Cold Weather (40-65 F) formulas in Pint, Quart, 1/2 Gallon & Gallon kits. Bonus: Kit includes 2 stir sticks, 2 paint pots & 1 pr. latex gloves.

NO VOCS, NO SMELL.

Cleanup is easy. Wear latex gloves, wash off with soap and water. No solvents required.

APPLICATION NOTE: The wood must be bare and unfinished. Also, TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy will not penetrate and level well when applied over some stains. Always test an area first. DO NOT USE on top of Minwax oil-based stains.

TotalBoat Cold Weather Penetrating Epoxy is perfect for use during the colder seasons. Compared to our traditional TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy, our Cold Weather formula offers similar performance characteristics, but cures completely and reliably in cooler temperatures. Its tack-free properties also allow you to sand sooner.

WARNING: TotalBoat Cold Weather Penetrating Epoxy should not be used as a fast-cure epoxy in warmer temperature conditions because doing so can be unsafe and result in premature exotherm, brittleness, and improper curing.

Application Temperature Ranges:

  • Traditional formula - 65-90°F
  • Cold Weather formula - 40-65°F

Use For:

  • Sealing open wood pores
  • Glues wood fibers back together
  • Fungi & mildew protection
  • Rotten wood restoration

Outstanding product, with some cautions

5

My use was to seal a newly built glued lapstrake boat, Okume plywood on oak. It is easy to apply, but expect a good bit of sanding. Even using alcohol to thin, the thinner flashes off quickly, and brushing imperfections do not flow out well. In addition, on the Okume plywood, it was like "raising the grain" with water, except that the wood fibers stand up, and are frozen into the epoxy. It is fairly hard, good for overcoating, but hard to sand. It filled the oak pores well, ready for varnish. The complete sealing will save several coats of varnish. Dead clear, with no blush, as promised.

Mix was thicker and did not penetrate as fast as 1 to 1 products.

Seemingly good product but Don't buy the Pumps!

5

When it starts getting sticky, you need to stop applying it because it will simply sit on the surface but before it begins to harden it penetrates very well; definitely mix half and half with acetone for better penetration.Do Not buy the Pumps! They Are Not Accurate! They Did Not Mix it 2:1; more like 1.6 to 1. Just pour a 2:1 ratio in the supplied mixing cups. The Epoxy putty is very good too! This fills big gaps and makes the rotten wood quite rigid.

Great product, excellent service

We had an issue on board the 32 year old superyacht I have been involved in refitting with a small kit of the Total Boat Penetrating Epoxy. The problem was likely caused by me leaving the containers in the (shaded) cockpit in the Chesapeake Bay for a few weeks - very warm in the days, cool to warm in the evenings - and it didn't seem to be going off the way it should. Jamestown Distributors sent us a new kit immediately at no cost and it preformed flawlessly. We are now in Newport and I am looking forward to visiting the shop and personally thanking the staff for such excellent customer service. Great company, great service, great products.

I used this product on my log home to repair an area of the bottom log that had rotted. It really soaked right into the rotten wood and made it solid. Fixing the reason for the damage, I now think I can avoid a REALLY expensive repair.

Penetrating Epoxy works great

5

Works great. Love the spouts on the new bottles; the catalyst drips only a little, but so much better than the old containers. LOVE that I can thin it with denatured alcohol, so much cheaper and less toxic.

We applied the product in two different times about 20 minutes apart. It overflowed and flowed out in the logs that we applied it to. We were able to clean it up and repaint the logs. No warning on the product

My marine woodwork is preserved now!

The mahogany on my boat was completely dry rotted. My replacement mahogany is treated with Penetrating Epoxy. I feel secure that this will protect it for a very long time.

End up mixing it slightly hotter, had cut the mix with acetone and it was longer in taking off than I thought. Used on clear redwood made not exterior doors, paint over the epoxy.
