TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy Kits

TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy is a low-viscosity wood rot restoration and repair solution that seals deeper & cures stronger than industry-leading penetrating epoxies. It has no VOCs, no odor & is 100% waterproof once cured.

This 2:1 system is ideal for restoring rotten or damaged wood, or sealing new wood for lasting protection against humidity, salt, mold & mildew. It works by gluing cellulose (wood) fibers back together, sealing a bare, porous wood surface from the inside out. Double the penetrating power by mixing acetone with the epoxy resin solution in equal volume. Easy to apply by brush, roller, or inject via syringe. Surfaces may be painted or varnished after light sanding.

Choose from Traditional (65-90 F) or Cold Weather (40-65 F) formulas in Pint, Quart, 1/2 Gallon & Gallon kits. Bonus: Kit includes 2 stir sticks, 2 paint pots & 1 pr. latex gloves.

NO VOCS, NO SMELL.

Cleanup is easy. Wear latex gloves, wash off with soap and water. No solvents required.

APPLICATION NOTE: The wood must be bare and unfinished. Also, TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy will not penetrate and level well when applied over some stains. Always test an area first. DO NOT USE on top of Minwax oil-based stains.

TotalBoat Cold Weather Penetrating Epoxy is perfect for use during the colder seasons. Compared to our traditional TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy, our Cold Weather formula offers similar performance characteristics, but cures completely and reliably in cooler temperatures. Its tack-free properties also allow you to sand sooner.

WARNING: TotalBoat Cold Weather Penetrating Epoxy should not be used as a fast-cure epoxy in warmer temperature conditions because doing so can be unsafe and result in premature exotherm, brittleness, and improper curing.

Application Temperature Ranges:

  • Traditional formula - 65-90°F
  • Cold Weather formula - 40-65°F

Use For:

  • Sealing open wood pores
  • Glues wood fibers back together
  • Fungi & mildew protection
  • Rotten wood restoration

2nd project. First project was teal and holly floor. Saturated wood. 3 years later, looks brand new. No water damage or wear. Great for beach boat with wooden floor

I would buy this again

I thinned and saturated a turned finial that is going to be outside and painted. It soaked in well and hardened up nicely. I will see how it holds up and then give it more stars if warranted.

Works as advertised

Goes on easily with a little thinner used per the instructions. Covered a lot more than I thought it would. They were not exaggerating on the set time. It was fully 4 days before it was dry.

Worked Better than Expected

5

First time using any penetrating epoxy and went to it after seeing a number of shipwrights and boat builders recommend it in videos. Andy of Boatworks Today and Lou Sauzedde "sold us" on the product. BTW, we are building our boat in our backyard so "weatherproofing" after planking was paramount; the penetrating epoxy worked better than expected after a brief Florida shower caught us with our tarp down. No damage, no issues. We highly recommend it!

I am using this product to fill in small cracks and gaps that have happened over the drying time on a couple slab and so far I have zero complaints.

Good stuff.

We used this as a preservative to restore the hardness of 44 historic windows in downtown Dayton Ohio. I thinned it with lacquer thinner and it penetrated through all the punky wood. Great product.

Performed as advestised

Turned a piece of spalted maple into a workable solid. Surface sands to a natural appearance - does not look "plastic". The really soft spalted areas adsorbs larger qualities than the harder spalted areas. These areas after curing are natural appearing and solid but it losses the "natural wood feel".

My new miracle worker!

Purchased to strengthen new stringers and the boat restoration. After that was done identify many many other uses this is good for with wood protection

Outstanding product, with some cautions

My use was to seal a newly built glued lapstrake boat, Okume plywood on oak. It is easy to apply, but expect a good bit of sanding. Even using alcohol to thin, the thinner flashes off quickly, and brushing imperfections do not flow out well. In addition, on the Okume plywood, it was like "raising the grain" with water, except that the wood fibers stand up, and are frozen into the epoxy. It is fairly hard, good for overcoating, but hard to sand. It filled the oak pores well, ready for varnish. The complete sealing will save several coats of varnish. Dead clear, with no blush, as promised.

Mix was thicker and did not penetrate as fast as 1 to 1 products.
