Teak wood is often used in marine applications, boatbuilding, furniture and flooring. This is high quality Teak lumber imported from Asia. Color and grain pattern will vary--making your piece uniquely wonderful. Other sizes and lengths available upon request. Teak is a very durable hardwood with excellent split resistance. Often chosen for its beautiful olive-brown or yellow-brown color which will become more golden as time progresses. Density is 45 pounds per cubic foot.

Are the dimensions cited to actual dimensions I will receive or should I allow for shrinkage during drying process
They should be pretty close to actual dimensions.

will the distributors look for a piece that is completely clear and has extremely straight grains? my project requires it.
Aaron white (Plasticats101)
Yes agree. Required clear and has extremely straight grains so the board could be bonded together and create a wider unit which would match existing teak work.
I was told when purchasing ( in the description) boards were not garrenteed to match. They were close but not the same and grain was not straight. I would call.
Will teak wood float?
No, teak is too dense to float.
Yes it will.Michael
looking for scant-lings 3/4 or 1.0 in x 4.5" x appx 2'? Stan K
the web site was easy to use..the teak was delivered with in three days and was in perfect condition..would definitely recommend Jamestown for a teak purchase
You would need to use the 3/4" x 5 1/2" and rip to size.
Hello,Could I use this teak lumber to make boat handrails?Thank you,Bart C.
How much does 1 piece of 3/4in thick 5 1/2 wide 6ft weigh?
Hi Barry,Teak weighs on average 42 lbs per cubic foot. Your board is 297 cubic inches which is .172 cubic foot, so your piece of wood should weigh about 7.23 lbs. Hope this helps.Michael
Not much. I purchased an 8' length and it only weighed a couple of pounds.
Do you have this in 1/4 inch? Is this the normal thickness of most teak decking.
Yes they do and in various widths. I used it after cutting it down for trim in the boat.
My order was not for teak decking but rather for a new cover designed and fabricated for the lazerette hatch. I had it planed down to exact fitness. This replaced an old fiberglass hatch on my 47 year old classic sailboat. Over the last few years, I've replaced all hatches, companionway cover, forward hatch, bin boards and even some cleats with teak and mahogaany.
1/2" thick X 5 1/2" X close to 5 ft. 1 piece. Not tung and groove. normal thickness of teak decking: I have no idea. Bought piece to repair teakwood Japanese sogi screen. repair come out very nice.
I need a piece of teak wood 26 and a quarter" long, 10 and 3 eighths" wide and one half to three quarters" thick. Do you have this or know where I can get it?
1 piece: 1/2 X 5 1/2 X approx. 60
Can I get a peice of teak that is actually 7 inches wide and 12inches long to replace a peice on my boat/ I can cut to fi?
If the catalog states that dimension is available I don't see why not. However, if the width is not available as a single piece you may have to join two pieces, say with tongue-and-groove to achieve the needed size. If you do not have the tools necessary to do this, I would suggest you take the wood to a cabinet maker who would for a small fee, make the proper cuts for such a joint. The cabinet maker could also clamp and glue the two pieces at the same time to achieve the correct sized piece. Overall it would come out as a very attractive piece of wood work.
Yes, there teak are to size and a nice finish.
i have a single board 1/2" x 5" x approx. 5 ft. want to by it? cost me $92 including shipping
I need to build a wood deck around the pool 40feet long by 16 feet wide what recommendation do you have for teak and how much do you think it would it be?--------------------retaining wood --------------------pool side
A teak deck 40' long x 16' wide will cost well over $30,000.00 for materials alone. A deck AROUND a pool of those dimensions could cost more or less depending on how WIDE you want to make it. At only 8' wide the materials will cost over $60,000.00 and that's just the teak decking.
I purchased some teak from Jamestown in order to rebuild a swim platform on the back of my boat. It is an excellent wood for constant water immersion and exposure. However two cautions: One: it is very expensive. Two: a pool deck is subject to lots of staining. Where people get in and out it will bleach out and age a different color from other areas. Three: unfinished it is subject to lots of staining, red wine, sun lotions, etc.If you choose to finish it research your selections carefully. A private club near me replaced their deck with teak about six years ago. It still looks good however it is finished and slippery and on hot days very hot on the feet. The main walking path around the pool has been covered with I/O carpet screwed to the deck.gt
Great quality teak lumber
Replaced the hatch board battens on the ODay.Look great!
I would definitely recommend this product. Was surprised when I received the piece of wood on the fine quality.
Just as described - perfect repair item
Repaired a large rear teak swim platform on a 1985 Wellcraft Nova II with this replacement teak lumber. Costly platform to order new in 2014. Repair was a success and the job came out beautifully. Very happy customer - shipped quick and was protected well for shipment. With finishing work - new piece was a perfect match and the repair is not evident. Lots of teak on this boat - so I will be ordering again from Jamestown Distributors if further pieces are needed. A++ buying experience - thank you!
This is the place for teak lumber!
I looked for teak to repair my swim platform. Found inexpensive quality teak at Jamestown. Was shipped in protective tube, they offered to cut lumber if needed. Great customer service.
Will be used as the base for a custom jib traveler track. Beautiful wood; almost hate to cut, glue and drill it. It was pricey, but shipping was free. Now it is $15 less than when I bought mine--what a deal.
I bought two of these to make some teak rail seats for our Pearson 34. They arrived quickly enough but the two boards are drastically different color. Now I choose between each seat having two different colors or a different color seat on each side of the boat. The quality is just fine but I would definitely advise against buying something like this on-line where you can't actually see the stock
Best thing since sliced bread
Very happy with product & service

Teak....... ideal to use on boat
The teak ordered meet specifications [...]
John the boater
Used the teak to make skimmer covers for a very large, new swimming pool, to replace not to attractive plastic covers. The teak covers were inserted in antique blue stone. Half of the pool skimmers are done with the one peice of 51/2x1/2 x8 that was delivered, but I need the other 8 footer to finish the job, please expedite, thank you, David Crispell
