I have a 2002 Hunter 306 sailboat. Need to replace seawater strainer due to crack in plastic near threading. Does anyone know if this strainer will work and what size I need? Thank you.
If you go to Groco's website, the specifications of each strainer size is listed which also includes flow (volume) capacities. This will help you to make an intelligent selection based on your guestimate of your engine's required raw water flow per minute.
Is there a plastic wrench available to unscrew the plastic cup?
You can use a rubber strap wrench
No. Not to my knowledge. Careful application of a spanner will suffice.
Do you have the replacement non metalic strainer basket for the groco wsb-p 1000 raw water strainer? If so what is the catalogue number and what is the price?
That item number does not come up in my system. Please contact customer service at 800-423-0030.
Help for a Pool Pump
Had prior trouble with pool debris bypassing the main pool filter and clogging the pump impellers. The Groco unit with the see-through cup and an adequate screening volume made this a great application and time saver, let alone the ease of removing and cleaning the screen filter. Adding the extra valve completed the convenience of servicing the Groco strainer. The impeller now squeals much less and runs much quieter. The only reason it wasn't 5 stars was the decision to use the nylon mesh over that of a stainless steel screen like the bronze models. But then again, we're not spending three times as much, are we?
These strainers are great
five min. install. With a wonderful full flow
A good strainer for smaller plumbing
This Groco strainer is a lower cost alternative when the capacity of the larger strainers is not needed. I find it works fine for a small engine (Atomic 4) raw water cooling inlet. Also, for a head raw water inlet. In both cases water flow is light to moderate. A compact unit complete with mounting bracket.
