Can you bend it around a radius?
Because it's slightly hollowed out on the bottom, I'd suspect if you bent it around a radius it would become mis-shapen.
Because it is not a solid section, bending around a radius would likely flatten the profile around the curve.
Are these strakes perfectly flat on the back or slightly hollow? I plan to use on the edge of my wood combing which has a very slight crown to it.thanks, Mark
They are hollowed on the underside.
Slightly hollow, I believe it is a flat piece of metal, pressed to a round strake shape, resulting in the upper curve and a hollow bottom.
Hi Mark,This strake is pressed into shape, so it's hollow.
I think they're flat on the back, but I really can't remember. I bought one to put on the bottom of the keelson of my dinghy a couple of years ago, so it wouldn't abrade when dragged on the beach. Worked great, but then the dinghy was stolen. So I have no way of figuring out if it had some hollow to it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. For the top of a combing, you could try bronze, which might look better, and I believe can be found with a hollow back. Some people just take copper tubing and cut it in half.
Slightly hollow; not flat.
They are hollow back. I used them on the edge of my combing as well. Was happy with the product.
Mark,These were used on our Beneteau 423 which has a teak toe rail. They are rounded/curved on the back and fit perfectly on the rounded edge of the toe rail.Hope this helps.
Are these strakes solid or hallow?
They are hollow, thank you.
Would destroy deck or wood.
The ends of the rub strakes are lower than the center and are cut, very sharp, not polished. I could not install them because pressure on the ends would dig into my teak rub rails and mare them forever. Don't buy this product!
