Spraying resin and gelcoat can create intoxication and serious health damage. Always wear protective eyewear, gloves, and a proper respirator
to prevent toxic vapors, solvent and resin from coming into contact your eyes and skin.
hi, will this spray acrylic latex interior housepaint as well without thinning?
well what i can tell you is this if it can spray gelcoat .it and spray house paint indoors and out resin is thick not much on thinning and the house paint is thin to gelcoatso whatever light your paints up let rip there paterchip !
Might or start off with a full strenght then reduce as required to spray
how do you clean mixed epoxy resin from the spray gun?
As soon as you've sprayed out the gel-coat, spray thru solvent and scrub exterior with brushes. 3 or 4 times until clean. Small amounts are sufficient. I use naphtha. It must be done between every batch to avoid setting up in the gun and contaminating the new batch with residue from the previous batch. Because the batch set up time varies with temperature and amount of hardener used you must keep an eye on the results you're getting. Some orange peel effect is normal, but if it get excessive and looks dry it's time to dump what's left and clean the gun. It's more labor intensive than painting.Dave
never sprayed gel coat before, bought a drift boat but wasnt the color i would like so im wanting to re gel the boat inside and out is this gun able to handle this task ?
Absolutely, this gun is designed for gel coat use with it's 2.5 mm nozzle, you will need some styrene to thin out the gel coat first though, thank you.
Not good for large jobs, very difficult to clean
I found the gun difficult to clean after some gel coat hardened in the pot. However, after about two hours, it was cleaned well enough to spray again but quality seemed to deteriorate considerably. Also, pressure pot does not secure well and lost nearly 1/2 QT of gelcoat when the the pot blew off during a spray. I regret buying this tool and wish I would have spent the extra $ for the 3M gravity feed gun.
Good choice for the money
Sprayed a complete PWC hull with no problems.(gelcoat was thinned)
not a pressure pot
when i bought this gun add said it was a presure pot.it is not and has a hard time spraying gelcoat.iam going to try putting a pressure cup on it and see how it works
