Does anyone have a recommended bedding adhesive for series 910 plastic hatch
JD Tech Team
Sikaflex 291 is a good bedding sealant.

How do I identify what model Bomar hatchs are on my 89 cape dory 30 ft sailboat
We don't have a reference on what hatches are used on specific boats. The best way is to measure the opening and choose one that will fit.
What is the adhesive that attaches the cylinders to the hatch lid?
I used 5200. Not sure it was the best, but it was what I had. Previous hatch with 5200 lasted 12 years, which included 9 hurricanes, 4 direct hits.
Not sure what Bomar uses, Plexus MA310 would work.
I need a replacement Bomar hatch to fit an opening that is approximately 18 3/8 x 18 1/2 inch. The only number l have on the old hatch Bomar is:2080 followed by 3 02 89,stamped on the frame. The old hatch has one arm. Please advise on replacement?.Thank.
Doesn't look like the Bomar 900 or 2000 series hatches meet your specs of 18 3/8 X 18 1/2 OD. This is what a service tech at Bomar told me. Contact Select Plastics in E. Norwalk CT. They specialize in repair and fabrication of marine products, including hatches. They have a web site, so check them out.Good Luck,Jeff
I had wanted to replace the mid cabin hatch on my Bristol 35.5, which was cast aluminums broken). I ordered the new Bomar hatch, which is much lighter being basically all plastic. My boat yard recomme3nded that I not install it as it is more likely to wear out within a relatively short period of time. Also, I worried that it could not stand up to heavy foot work when changing sails, etc. I returned it and got full credit from Jamestown (thank you). I think Bomar can provide a hatch like the original, but something tells me it was something of the order of $1000. Being somewhat handy, I simply unbolted the broken arm and replaced it with a simple swing-up propping arm out of permally (?) attached to the original bolt. It works fine, no trouble.
I need to replace one hatch on my 1990 SlickCraft Tiar. The model is Bomar 88041576. Where can I find this?
I returned the hatch. It is almost all plastic and rather flimsy. I wanted to replace the hatch on my cabin top, but it did not look strong enough to carry much weight when raising and furling the mainsail. The boat yard also said the plastic would probably deteriorate in the sun faster that the original, which is all aluminum except for the thick lexan (?) glass.
I am looking for a Bomar hatch lens replacement size 20 5/8 x 20 5/8 where can I get one ?
I returned this item as it was all plastic, not an aluminum frame of the original. The boat yard that was going to install the hatch said it was not worth doing and would not last very long. Kinda flimsy.
I bought on last year to replace a hatch on a 21-trophy.Worked great price was good and shipping was fastBart
I WOULD CONTACT THE MANUFACTURE. THE WAY THESE ARE SEALED I, MOST LIKLEY, WOULD NOT ADVISE REPLACING JUST THE LENS. I DONT BELIEVE YOU CAN JUST GET THE LENS ANYWAY.

What material is the Bomar 900 hatch series frame construction ?
It appears to be plastic. Sturdy enough under normal use but I do avoid stepping on it for instance. If you want something better, such as aluminum, you are going to pay a LOT more money.
Some kind of plastic, but DON'T buy at any price. After eighteen months it started to leak, and some bizarre fungus has started growing on the glass which resists any cleaner, (the fungus doesn't exist near the hatch). On top of that, the unit was engineered by someone who has never slept on a boat when a rain shower passed over. In order to close the hatch the screen has to be removed which requires tools! This was a very difficult install and I wish someone would have alerted me to the many problems with this hatch.
It's plastic and the lens is thin tinted plastic. It feels weak and I would not stand on it.
What is range of motion ... Ie will it open at least 90 degrees to accommodate a carry-on AC unit?
Range of opening is about 95-100 degrees. However there is the arm which holds the hatch up which may imterfer with the AC unit unless it is removed
Yes, it open approx 150 degrees. The opening does have the hold open strut on one side so the availablel width is about 1 1/4 inch less than the opening listed.
Mine opens to 90 degrees (but no more) and will lock in place. I have not tried to install a hatch AC, so I can't comment on that. I used the hatch to replace the exact same type of hatch (which made installation easy). I hope I can add a hatch AC unit later. My only advice regarding the AC unit is I would check the AC manufacturer's specs and compare to the hatch opening. One thing to consider might be the locking mechanism for the latch lid (shown on the left side of the picture). Although not very large, it will reduce the finished opening size on that one corner and could make sealing the AC unit around the hatch a little tricky.
Range of motion is about 150 degrees. Well beyond 90.
It does open to 90 degrees but no more so it depends on your ac unit.
How thick a deck will the trim ring accommodate?
The flange around the hatch is only a couple of inches in height. Someone at Jamestown Distributors should be able to provide the exact dimensions. The hatch did not come with an interior mounting kit but I believe Bomar makes an interior trim kit for that model hatch. I was replacing the exact same hatch, so I did not need the interior trim kit (I used the existing trim in my boat) and installation was very easy.
Looking for Bomar Hatch, Partr # 96019423 Pls let me know if you got it and how much??????
This number does not come up in my system, please contact customer service at 800-423-0030 to set up a special order price quote.
Worked great and was shipped fast.
Looks great on my 1989 Sanibel 18. The screw holes did not match (as expected) with the old one but that was a easy fix.
Fit right in the slot of the broken original
Did the job
Pretty much what I expected. It is a bit lighter than the Bomar hatch that I replaced, but that came off my 1989 boat. Metal compared to plastic frame. Satisfied anyways.
perfect for all occasions!!!
live in s.e. florida, cross over to the bahamas frequently, and long offshore trips! never had a problem in rough seas with 900 hatch, hitting 4-6 and6-8 foot seas, this being a 26 foot cobia w/a cuddy!!! twin yams 200's a great product!!!

Good quality hatch
I purchased this hatch because it exactly fitted the cut out in my Cobia cuddy cruiser. Replacement was straightforward and this hatch was substantially better made than the broken one that I was replacing. I liked the smooth low profile lines and easy access to screw holes all the way around. It is not meant to be stepped on but my hatch is 16.5 x 16.5 and would probably be OK if stepped on occassionally. Not cheap but good value for money

Bomar 910 - 6966---1111
I bought this model because it fit the cut out in our coachroof best. I did not realize how light weight it is. I think if you stepped on it you would go right through. Fortunately it is mounted on the cabin top, not on the bow, where it will be subject to less stepping and any wave action. I would not recommend this product for any serious off-shore use.
